Check engine codes...
Hey guys
ive run into an issue with my 02 S-type...
the check engine light came on and its the typical rough running jaguar, until i deleted the codes.
the codes that i puller are:
P0303- Cylinder 3 misfire detected
P0304- Cylinder 4 misfire detected
P1316- Manufacturer control
P1111- Manufacturer control
can you guys give me some insight on what could be wrong and what to check out?
ive read about the coils having water causing misfires...
thanks alot

If your engine is the 3-litre V6, misfires frequently begin occuring when the factory-installed Intake Manifold Tuner Valve O-rings fail and begin to allow oil to seep out and air to seep in. There are two O-rings that need replacing, both identical to each other. Factory O-rings (that frequently fail) are yellow in color. The new-and-improved O-rings are green in color. It's a DIY job, just be sure to get the green O-rings. Search the forum using "IMT O-ring leaks" as your search phrase and you'll uncover a gold mine of how to fix this problem once and for all. Most of us who own the V6 have had to do it....
As previously pointed out, failing coils and air leaks in hoses can also cause misfires. But if your car is a V6 and has its original factory IMT O-rings, that should be where you start....

"Cats don't like water" - a quote from another Jaguar forum member, is a key phrase to keep in mind with these cars ! I unwittingly took my 2003 S-type to a DIY car wash, which dumped an inordinate amount of water into the well below the windshield wipers, allowing water and moisture into the engine compartment. The car was running perfectly until shortly after this car wash. The amber engine light came on and now cylinders 1 and 5 are misfiring, and I'm certain it's due to the moisture, as the car was fully serviced 3 months ago.

I would first try out the O-rings as mentioned before. It's pretty simple to do and the O-rings cost around 5 bucks or so.
Then I would look to see if there are any air leaks. I notice that you have a '02 S-type. I believe the 2002 and earlier models had a common problem of an elbow tube cracking causing air leaks.
Then I would go check the coils and plugs.
