Check engine, restricted performance, P0171 P0307 P1316
Hi,
I bought the car just recently and now from time to time I get check engine and restricted performance. "Restricted performance" is on and off and check engine is on 90% of the time. I checked it at the dealer and thats what I got: P0171 P0307 P1316. Does anyone have any ideas what to do?
I know that such a topic has just been discussed, but I haven't used anything to clean the tank(or anything else), I haven't changed the air-filter or oil-filter (I only know that it was changed 2500miles ago).
So, if anyone could tell me what to check and what to do, step by step, it would be very much appreciated.
I have S-type, 4.2l, 2002.
p.s. Sorry for any mistakes, english is not my mother language

Check that tsb (loose air intake tube and or air box) that is common, but dont let it go cause the restricted performnce is the cars way of saying that what it sees if left unchecked will do permantent damage....like catalytic convertor damage in you case. And you must have an issue with the pdf on your side cause i can open it
grab the ait intake tube and pull away from the throttle body, it should not come off, if it does, reinstall and tighten

The forum has a set probation period for new members... Be patient, stick around and join in the fun..The probation period is designed to prevent spammers from jumping on. It will restrict your ability to view attachments and PM other users to name a few.. There is a forum area that should explain it.

Continue to post and I think after 10 posts you will have the pleasure of seeing the attachments along with other things. As for your problem fallow Brutal’s suggestions. I have a list of things to check and it works for xk8 & xj8 and I am assuming it will help you. Use this link. If it does not work just copy and paste it the browser http://www.gusglikas.com/AutoRepairTroubleShooting.htm Good Luck!
Also P0307 indicates a misfire on #7 cylinder and the P1316 is indicating that you had a misfire.

Things posted here MAY help but you'd be wise to stick to the XK forum. Note that a P1xxx code can have a different meaning for each model so what someone here found for P1316 may not apply to your car. I've seen this occur on the .co.uk forum.
