Default coils n plugs not problem on the P0305 code.

Wanted! a solution for P0305 cyl #5 misfire.

Ive replaced the coils and put new plugs in my 2002 3.0 s-type.

that did not resolve the issue.

Consider changing your Intake Manifold Tuner Valve O-rings (IMT O-rings for short). Remove the factory yellow-colored O-rings and replace them with the new-and-improved green-colored O-rings (there are a total of two). Should cost you less than $5 if you do it yourself, and there are several good DIY threads here that will walk you through the process step-by-step. Just search for "IMT O-ring replacement" here on the forum and you'll find what you need....

While changing coils, did you replace both upper and lower intake gaskets? Also the rubber elbow under the lower intake should have been replaced at the same time.

To add to the valuable advice already provided above - check to ensure the connectors to each fuel injector (especially cylinder #5) is snug and tight - as a loose connection at the injector can flag a misfire code. Those plastic locking tabs on the connectors are notorious for snapping/breaking off...

hello, thanks for the info on the gaskets.
I just wanted to add, when the misfire happens it is only around 1500-2000 rpm's. and only when the vehicle gets warmed up. any idea's.
thank's,
Eman

Just 4 more bolts remove the lower intake and right below it is the infamous elbow that cracks and needs to be replaced.

This should help:

Did you replace all the coils and all the plugs?

It's a false economy to try and do them one at a time. On the V-6 it's easy to do one side, the other side is harder. Since you are unaware of the intake gasket issues I think you only replaced the easy side.

ok, today i replaced the #5 cyl fuel injector ( passenger side rear near firewall) and cleaned and checked the hoses and lines for leaks.
I took off lower intake (it was very easy with fuel rail.
then i took the elbow off. that was in great shape no problems.
cleaned and checked all other injectors and o-rings.
lets see what happens.

Cylinder numbering changes on model. What model is the car X200 or X202

Pre 2002.5MY X200 cars cyl 5 is LH side midle cylinder, Drivers side if you are left hand drive in USA.

2002.5MY onwards X202, cyl 5 is rearmost cylinder on the RH side of the car. Passenger side in the US.

Er... is your VIN before M45255? Where #5 is depends on the VIN, as the Vehicle Specs PDF & JTIS in the stickies say.

(That's the VIN break for 2002.5MY Europe, 2003 USA)

That was my point!

At your car's age and mileage you need to change them all. They are wear items and you might get by for several months until the next coil breaks down. But you are just dragging the problem out. It won’t go away.

Yes i have a left hand drive USA model with the date code of 09 of 01 that is a pre 2002 model year i was going off my dealer info.
could someone confirm the cyl#5 is on the drivers side i would have easily repaired the issue.
haha that would be great. no sense crying over spilt chocolate milk.

Its the midle one on the easy side.

swap it with the one infront if you dont believe me, misfire will jump to cyl 4.

In future use the VIN not the date.

It wouldn't be the first someone "split" the chocolate milk here.
