Default Buyer Beware of the heated winshield

Replacement cost were very high. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
Please test drive any vehicle with this heated windshield option. I am very unhappy with this $300 option which has ruined this new Jaguar for me. The blurriness of the light reflections at night is crazy. The dealership is telling me not to replace but will do it if I wish but no guarantees that no bells or whistles will go off. Jaguar headquarters was of no help and said that there was nothing they could do. OK, so what happened to the customer service on a $100,000 MSRP. They will disconnect the wires before replacing, but, sure, for a price.

I had a 92 Lincoln Town Car that I bought new and had the rare "Instaclear" option. Living at that time in Ohio, I used it several times. Completely snow covered to clear as day in about 3 minutes. It was very useful.

When I had a stone chip in the glass, State Farm about blew their cookies when they found out that my non-deductible comprehensive coverage required them to cough up $1,100 for a new windshield since it was available only through Ford and only a Ford dealer would install it.

You've dug up an old dormant post.

I don't so much test drive as drive one with that option all the time. Have done for over 5 years. No problems. Very handy in cold weather as it clears in moments.

Must be something different about your eyes and mine. That or I'm looking further ahead than the screen when I'm driving

What bells and whistles? Can't be any - look at the Electrical Guide if you don't believe that. Pretty cheap to put in a non-heated screen. (What a waste, though.)
