Default P1647 CEL Code on a STR

I am throwing P0171 and P1647. A local mechanic told me it could be a tune-up, so I changed the plugs and fuel filter today. The light is still on. I know the 1647 is Bank 2 O2, Correct?. I wanted to see if anyone had this problem before? Is it just the o2 or possibly some wiring somewhere? I FORGOT TO ADD. I NOW HAVE A 03 STR not an 05.

05, the P0171 error code is a lean condition on the bank 1 cylinders. This is normally the result of a vacuum leak on your car. So, check your engine for a vacuum leak, especially any lines on the top of the engine.

As for the P1647 error code, reading up on it, it appears the computer is not seeing the sensor at all. There are other codes if the O2 sensor is starting to fail. This one is that the computer outputs a voltage to the sensor and is seeing nothing in return. So, I wold first do a hand over hand of the wiring going to the O2 sensor. With this being said, this code is for the upstream sensor on the driver's side of the car (ie, right side of the motor if you are looking into the engine bay and your knees are against the front bumper). The code specifically talks about 2 possible problems: 1)either the supply voltage to the sensor (gray wire, pin 1 on the connector) being grounded or 2) that the wires going to the sensor have opened for some reason. Hopefully this gives you a starting point. Sounds like these are not related problems other than both starting after your plug change.

I forgot to say I now have a 03 STR, and I changed the plugs/filter after the light came on. I can't figure out which O2 Bank 2 would be to check out?

05, if you look on the exhaust header on the driver's side, you will see the O2 sensor. That is the sensor that you are needing to worry about.

Thanks... I'll take a look at it and try to test it and see what happens.
