RE: performance upgrades for s-type r?
I know a lot of people with 2003 supercharged Cobras would upgrade the pulley, chip the computer, and add exhaust and they instantly had an extra 75 or so horsepower. If I can squeeze 450 out of the str without doing anything major, that would be great

RE: performance upgrades for s-type r?
Put a Type R sticker on the left rear window, and one that says V-Tec on the right rear. Stickers add 5 HP!
j/k, that pulley upgrade looks good, and the price is reasonable. Not great, but not bad!
OMG, THEY HAVE A NOS UPGRADE FOR THE STR! I WOULDN'T DO IT, BUT OMG! I DON'T KNOW HOW I MISSED THAT BEFORE.

RE: performance upgrades for s-type r?
Along with the pulley upgrade, add the exhaust and the intake and it shud be a good 35-50 extra ponies. Mite set u back a little in the pocket, but itll surely sit u back firmly in ure seat when u hit the accellarator.

RE: performance upgrades for s-type r?
Would I be correct in assuming that adding an air intake mod such as the one jaguarXP offers would void my warranty?

Depends on where you live, but I know in CA, doing any modifications that do not directly effect the mechanical components of the motor will not void warranty on the drivetrain.
As far as exhaust notes go....I'm a big believer in the exhaust industry over-hyping their products. Unless you are in a Vette and need an X-pipe to help with backpressure and extraction, you're probably paying way too much for an exhaust system.
My last 3 cars, I've gone to a performance muffler shop and cut the muffler off completely ($30), just weld in the same diameter pipe in its place. With the Volvo, that was a little too harsh, so I went back and had an aftermarket resonator (cheesegrater or glasspack-$50 or $60, plus $30 in labor) welded in its place. With the stock resonators and cats, I guarantee you'll get a nice tone from one of those scenarios and will be in a <$100 investment. Flow should increase without the baffles of a muffler...but never expect much of a hp gain from any cat-back modification.
Worth a shot before spending >$700 on shiny pipes that may or may not be what you're looking for. (for those of you who want quiet...disregard entire post!)

RE: performance upgrades for s-type r?
Any of you guy's and girls ever consider a programmer? I'm thinking about getting one just to fix the stuff that the dealer can't ! Plus the performance benefits.

RE: performance upgrades for s-type r?
OMG...if I can get that to play with the fuel maps, I'm getting it. I'd play with it for a while, and remove the speed limiter, as well as make the car run a little bit richer. I'm sure I can squeeze and extra 30 HP out of it, and with enough toying, I'll find the right setup and offer re-tunes to you guys for FAR cheaper than arden and them. I'm sending an E-mail to the manufacturer to see if it can play with the fuel maps. If it can, I'd be inclined to turbo the Jag! Woot Woot!

RE: performance upgrades for s-type r?
I want to know if there is software available to have a local place do the ECU Tuning, like an LS1EDIT for the Corvettes, Trans Ams, GTO's etc. I have access to a dyno machine and a hellova a programmer, but don't have a clue what software will work to tune it.

RE: performance upgrades for s-type r?
Bigdreams, why do you want to run richer?
About aftermarket parts voiding warranties...First there a difference to actually having your warranty voided vs a mechanic refusing to perform warranty work. There's a 75% chance a jaguar dealer will refuse warranty work if you put on a intake. Franchise mechanics get paid less to warranty work vs "retail" work. They refuse warranty work in hopes that the next car is retail, aka they get paid more. There is an act out there to protect you called The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.However, you'llmay have to pull teeth toget your jag worked on for free with an intake. Most hassle free way is to do is remove the aftermarketparts prior to going into a dealer.
