Default recharging air conditioner
i have a 2000 jaguar 3.0 s-type.
here's my problem. i would like to recharge my ac but i cannot find the port. where would it be located? thanks in advance.

GB, The AC fill port is on the AC compressor down at the lower left front side of the engine compartment.

Look on the side of the compressor for 2000 - 2002

If you are asking about a 2004 then it is in the rear of the left wheel well area.

X200 are different from the X202

On my 2001 it is on the compressor, pointing towards the wheel. In practice the wheel has to come off to access it.

My compressor was not running but after adding 18 oz of r134, it engaged and begin to cool properly. Price was $24 at Walmart for the 18oz can with a hose and gauge. Was much better than a trip to the garage.
If your car was a pound and a half low on R134, I would heavily suspect there is a leak in the system. Did the Wal Mart R134 have dye in it?

I was concerned about additives after reading some other posts. Do you recommend I try the dye to locate the leak?

How do you know that you haven't over charged the system? The dye will do no harm.

I hate not seeing pics, but yes on my '02 3.0, its on the compressor pointing inwards (shrader valve is a M8). You will need a ramp or jack, different of the newer models where i see them turn the wheel. I aplogize if the pic is too large.
