Default My car tends to jerk alot...

I have noticed that sometimes when I go to break slowly (typically in stop and go traffic) right before my car comes to a stop it jerks. The same is true sometimes when I go to accelerate slowly, like in stop and go traffic and I am going to inch forward. Does that make since? It is a 2004 S-Type 3.0 with only 21,000 miles on it. Any thoughts or has anyone else seen this?

Thanks,
Russell

Would the brake pads be the reason it does it when I starts to go forward? I figured when I was stoping that it would be the brake pads but did not realize that it might be the same for when I come off the brakes.

Any good suggestions on brake pads and where to get them from? I know the ones I have on there now that I got from the dealer suck. They cause an insane amount of brake dust on my rims.

It's possible. I assumed (you know where that gets us!) that you still had slight pressure on the brake when inching forward. If you are getting large amounts of dust, it's still a good place to start.

Apology, when you had your car "Re-Flashed" what all does that entail? I am still a bit new to the Jaguar game, I have only had mine a few months, and am not really that knowledgable on cars. How much did it end up costing you?

Thanks

My service guy explained this to me in laymans terms. I have an '03 XK8, same ZF tranny as the S-types and XJs. He told me that my slight lurch when stopping, or for that fact...when you roll to a stop, and begin to accelerate is due to the transmission 'learning' from previous driving styles. It makes sense that a reflash would bring it back to it's infancy state and will thus learn from you.

I didn't have it done. I just come to a complete stop, and the lurch doesn't happen.

So I just go in to the dealer and tell them I need to get my car "re-flashed"? Is that the term that I use to tell them?

I had a combo of reflash, software updates and torque converter replacement and a year and a half of NPF to get rid of mine but man it is nice now!!
