01 s type V8 coil packs replacement steps
Hello everybody,
Right after having my mechanic replace a faulty shifter and cable on my 2001 s type v8, I had a flashing CEL and strong misfiring that turns into trembling right past 40 mph, pulled the codeS:
- p 0065 Air assisted injector control range ( which is said to be adjacent to throttle body and intake, I hope anybody can help point it out on the actual picture rather than a diagram)
-p0303, p0304, p0307; apparently misfiring cylinders
-p1780 shifter related
How and if could replacing the shifter and cable possibly start this trouble?
Also I'm very tempted to try replacing the coil packs myself but can't find any video, pictures, or detailed steps on doing that, especially the order of removal and replacing..all I can find is about the V6 and talk about removing the intake manifold, although after removing the cover I feel the both covers on both banks are easily reachable on my V8?
any advice will be greatly appreciated!

If you go to the stickies https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s-type-s-type-r-supercharged-v8-x200-15/details-win7-64-bit-new-install-method-new-jtis21-s-type-archive-66031/ you can download the jaguar workshop manual. This will give you step by step instructions for checking the codes and how to change the coils, but if they are working ok why awake a sleeping demon?

Thx for the quick input! The reason I wanna change the coil packs is to see if the codes and misfire will go away; since they are cheap and a tune up anyway.

You might swap the coils around and see if the faults move with them, to confirm if they are at fault.
You need the AAI thing to work. I suspect it might cause other codes (perhaps the ones you have) if it doesn't.
Be certain your battery is not the cause of all or most of those codes - as it often is!

Thanks JagV8! Battery is 4 months old; also I already have a set of cheap coils and plugs, so why not replace these 3 and leave the other 5 alone, especially that the car is running rough with obvious misfire?
Any idea why it shakes pretty bad after 40 MPH (I had a tranny clutch lock code few month ago but it went away, although occasional slight slipping happens every now and then)?
