Default 1999 S Type Rear Park assist only works in Drive

Hello All

I have had an issue with my Park Assist

When I bought car, working fine - After a couple of months;

Initially one of the sensors was not working (ear test) so I swapped the bad for good and purchased a new sensor

Put on new sensor and it still did not work - Double checked the sensor with a different position to find working fine

Checked the wiring for continuity and working fine

Opened box to find PCB damaged by water ingress

All this time the siren was sounding long and loud in reverse with only three sensors working

New box arrives, all same numbers - Plugged it in and all four sensors working

Problem is that they only work in every gear apart from reverse!!

I have no front sensors

Any ideas

Regards

Never reported before so something weird like PO changed wiring.

The system should be deactivated in all positions except reverse so something is backwards.

Why not ask the module what it 'thinks' is wrong????
There will be DTCs logged for the fault.

What code reader will read the Park Assist module?

The numbers are the same and I recon the feed is from the rear lights (according to the WD) rather than CANBUS so I am reconing just to change the feed input

Of course nothing is easy - Pin 9 and 10 both show WR wires!!

No CAN on that era S-Type.

OE tool or the like. See the Stickies/FAQ.

Unfortunately, I could find nothing definite - Some stuff works for some and not others, some on XP and some not

Looks like I will go with my earlier plan and if that fails, use the tow bar instead of the Park Assist............

That's not even this site let alone forum.

Still, makes two at most.

Whether the car(s) mentioned have CAN is impossible to say given the failure to post relevant details.

No wonder so little (or no) help is provided!!

Read the module - someone out there at a dealer or indy or wherever can do it, perhaps best with WDS. Or stare at the freely downloadable workshop manual and let us know what troubleshooting reveals?

I never said it was from this forum - All I did was show that someone, somewhere had the same issue - And I would say a minimum of two!

What "relevant" details are you after? - Vehicle details are in my sig? - You said there was no CAN in my era of car?

Obviously posting an issue on a Forum is to hopefully get an anecdotal answer which alas looking rather slim in this case - Obviously getting codes read is the way to go, but with respect i could have worked that one out for myself

By posting on the Forum, I was hoping that someone could help me without the aggravation and expense of involving a third party

<sigh>

I think the comment regarding lack of info and absence of subsequent help was referring to the other forum and not your own particular case.

Exactly

Should those cars be 2002.5MY+ they have little in common.

The Reverse Parking Aid Module is on the SCP network. (Ford Standard Corporate Protocol)

To keep us all on topic:

Possibly your shift cable is stretched. (Meaning you may think your shifter is in P or N by the shift handle but the cable is out of alignment keeping the actual gear in R between P & N selections - and your parking aid system "active")

You do need to get your vehicle parking aid module read by Jaguar diagnostic software to get codes related to your issue.

No front sensors on 1999.25 - 2002MY's.

This system is rather simplistic...
