Default 2003 V6 Upper Radiator Hose

I refuse to pay $190.00 for an upper radiator hose from Jaguar. YIKES!!! I've found one for my 2003 S-Type with 3.0 V6 at www.rockauto.com for about $59.00. Has anyone else bought this hose? Did it work OK?

This hose doesn't come with the metal part that I think holds the thermostat housing but I don't need that part anyhow. Mine broke the round plastic thing off the top of the plastic center tube next to the temperature sending unit. There's no way to fix that (of course).

Thanks in advance!

I got mine from Nalley but that looks like the thing less the thermostat and housing.

Here's the pic from Rockauto.

and here's the plastic bit from mine.

That thing that looks like a tank turret is what broke off on mine. What a lousy dessign in my opinion.

I heard that NAPA sells an upper radiator hose for about $105.00. I am not sure whether it has the thermostat housing. The whole thing is a nightmare. I have recounted multiple times the ripping I got from Firestone. It cost me $1045 to replace the upper and lower radiator hoses. Without a doubt, I am going to do that job myself next time. Paying for that over a 6 month period sucked.

Mine was slowly leaking for a while and I only found out one morning when the "coolant level low" message came up.

I bought the whole part online from Gaudin Jaguar in Las Vegas. I paid $116 shipped for the whole part (hose + thermostat + housing).

I saw a few on Ebay without the thermostat and the housing like you mentioned, but a few friends of mine said it would be good to switch out the thermostat for a new one anyway.

www.rockauto.com has the thermostats for $5.50. I think I'll get one of those too while I'm doing this job.

Yeah, since your doing this job, research surrounding parts that are cheap and wouldn't be too much to replace as preventive maintenance, such as that $5.50 thermostate.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the upper radiator hose I bought from www.rockauto.com for only $59.00 worked like a charm. It was a high quality item I feel confident in. The only thing it doesn't have that the $190.00 Jaguar hose has is the metal thermostat housing that I didn't need anyway. The hose I bought even came with the temperature sending unit!

Hi,

I need a radiator hose for my 2004 Jaguar S Type 3.0L and I look at the pic from www.rockauto.com (More Information for ÜRO PARTS XR849446) and it doesn't look like the hose that I have. Mine looks just like the ones pictured in the posts from the thread that you created. Did the one from rockauto have the torrent looking thing on it as well as the temperature sensor?

Thanks for any help that you can provide with this.

I only need to replace the plastic part and it seems very hard to find only that part. Like sgblackwell, I looked up that part from RockAuto Parts Catalog and the pic they have was looked different than what im looking for now.

Please give me any info or advice for that part.

Jaguar S type 3.0 v6

The plastic part you refer too is not available by itself if you are talking about the "turret" looking plastic piece that a small hose attaches to. You'll have to buy tyhe whole upper radiator hose to get it.

Suggesting you buy only original, I faced a lot of troubles with aftermarket upper radiator hose. I changed two of them and twice got stock in the middle of the way with pomped out turret. At the end I ordered original OEM part and so far everything is perfect.
I sent almost 1K on mechaniks and towing car, due to this aftermarket hoses. Brand name was "URO Part".

Hmmmmmm. The upper radiator hose shown on www.rockauto.com today is NOT the one I ordered last year. This one looks totally diffferent and is less than $35.00. I paid $59.00 for the one I got and it looked just like the original on my car. The hose they sell now doesn't look like it has the "turret" any longer. I'm not sure I would order this hose. It doesn't look right.

So it looks like the tip of that turret looking thing broke off on my car,. I don't know when it happened, so i don't know who to blame! Hahahaha. I too cannot find that upper hose. I checked with RockAuto and they said without a part number, they couldn't search for it.

The mechanic tried putting a brass fitting to replace the expansion tank connection (nipple of turret) with no success.

Does anyone know the part number of this upper hose? I don't need the hoses and such, but if they come with unit, so be it. The only issue I have is the cost some places want for this. Outrageous!

I just ordered a factory OEM hose for total of $126 which included shipping at JAGUAR Parts and Accessories | JaguarMerriamParts.comŽ

The part number was: JLM21497 It came in a factory sealed container and I installed the whole thing in 45min. $126 is small compared to what they wanted at the Jag dealership to replace it. This way, I know I have genuine parts and I know the job was done right. I replaced the expansion tank as well, this time not an OEM part. Let's see how long that lasts.
