2004 Stype V8
Hi all-
Looking for some ideas here. My jag has had a lot of
Issues over the past several months. Gear box faults, etc. it has 88k miles on it. However, a few days ago I was reversing out of my drive way when I got a park code and a restricted performance and I couldn't get it out of park. Took to the local ford dealer who showed a code of PR0750. They are saying some sort of sensor shift and I need a new transmission. 2900.00 for a used one installed. Thoughts?

Start by getting a new battery. These cars are very prone to phantom codes when the battery begins to fail.

First, it can't be PR.... as R isn't valid, so maybe it's P0750.
We see few faults on your model so step back and take some time.
You really want to be able to do simple DIY or find a cheap and practical shop.
One thing we do see is loose/missing bolt(s) on the trans side for the shifter cable. May be that.
We OFTEN see weird faults due to a failing battery. Easily #1 suspect. Easy DIY and quite cheap to replace (especially if its age is uncertain).
You REALLY don't want to be at a Ford dealer!!

A Ford dealer wouldn't have any more clue than a kid working across the street at Burger King. If you can't DIY, at least find a Jag specialist.

Do you happen to know what automatic transmission you have? Mine is a Ford 5R55N. I spoke to an expert in transmissions and he told me this is a fine tranny and most of the models in this era are really good. Tread cautiously with the Ford dealer overpriced parts. Get a battery for $135 or so and have the linkage bolts checked. You have too low a mileage for this much wrong, as a rule.
