Smile Battery is Dead

Dear All,

My battery in my 2005 2.5 S-Type is dead. The battery is Varta Silver 100aH and lasted me for 2 years. I have a spare battery from my W211 which is DIN 55. Can I use the DIN 55 battery? Will it cause any damage to the alternator or the S-Type system in the long run?

Appreciate advise on this. Thank you.

Look up specs and compare. (Presumably DIN 55 etc means something.)

But... batteries should last MUCH longer so think about why it's died.

I looked up the spec of a DIN55 battery (not easy to find) and it's much smaller than the original with far less cranking power.

It might not damage the car but I'd just install the correct one.

Factory specs batteries are for cold weather. I am in Florida and can use a lawn mover battery for my 3.0 engine.
