Unhappy Black smoke

Hi everybody !

I have a S-Type 2.7 diesel.

I experience a few black smoke from exhaust in first and second gear or high reeves. Oil check and its ok (no burning) being told may need clean EGR valves or turbo probles. Sometimes goes in limp mod but come back to normal but in limp mod there is not much smoke. Is there someone else with same problem or knowledge about what to do about it?

Thanks to you all.

Welcome to the forum vicool,

I've moved your question from UK & Eire Region to S-Type forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

Do you have any other warnings on the dash (restricted performance ) ? My experience with the 2.7 is a bit limited, but similar to that of the 3.0L. I do know turbo's have been an issue in the past. EGR's I haven't seen many problems with, but doesn't mean they couldn't be faulty. How many km's on the vehicle, and are you able to have codes checked?
