Default Bluetooth Module and Voice Module help needed,(both Jaguar)

Have both these modules sitting in garage for 2003 STR. Question is-:

1. Neither module was supplied with microphone.
And Instruction for Bluetooth shows one type of microphone whereas instruction for Voice shows another?(See photos).

Bluetooth Module is C2C34515 for MY2005, VIN 41286

Voice Module is XR849645, for MY2002-2007.

2. Voice Module also listed as part no:C2C7333; for Australian market.
Should I have purchased this one, instead of the USA spec., (XR849645)?
And what is the difference between these two?

3. Also how does the earlier Bluetooth system kit available (for MY2002 onwards, C2S38536, with elaborate and complex looking installation proceedure), differ from the later one I have;C2C34515?

Any gurus please help!

thanks John.

I've only reviewed the US instructions for hands free phone installation. In all the stuff you have, where is the phone module? The Jaguar Voice is only for control of various functions. The Bluetooth module is only used to allow a bluetooth phone to connect to a phone module. I've also never seen a disk microphone in the S, only the little box style.

As someone who has fitted all this to my 03 STR I can shed some light on this for you. If you have all the prewire hookups, the voice is easy, just plug the module in and hook up the mic in the overhead console in the car. Now, the reason you see two different mic setups is because of this: The one with the little disk looking mic is for a kit to setup bluetooth with voice control for car's that weren't prewired. I know this cause I originally had it in my car! I took it out once I realized I could use the fully integrated system since I was prewired. That stand alone system can't work with Jag voice, hence the two different mic setups. If you install the overhead mic with the voice system, the voice will work, but if you then install the stand alone bluetooth system, you will have two mic's and they will fight with eachother! Now, since all I have seen is these pictures, and not the actual parts, I may be wrong. But the bluetooth instructions and part list look exactly like the manual and instructions for the stand alone kit I had in my car. As a side note, it does work pretty well, as long as you don't have voice as well.

Thank you for the reply guys.

Chris, I think I understand what you have explained.
So since I have both Bluetooth and Voice modules to install, it appears I have to source the mic with the 2 little boxes; the one that fits in the actual overhead console rather than the one indicated in the bluetooth kit which mounts on the headlining.

Cheers John

ps. Still curious why there is a US spec(XR849645), AND an Australian spec (C2C7333), for what appears to be the same 'Voice Activated Control' unit?????

clubairth1,

They are available from various sources around the world. But it depends where you are.
And they are not exactly cheap!
There is one available on ebay uk for approx 330 pounds and he does take offers.
I have bought from him before and he runs a reputable operation.
But do note it does say it is for the Autralian market!
And I do not know what the difference is to the USA spec one I have;

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/JAGUAR-VOICE-...item3f02f7aef8

jaguarmerriumparts.com
has a USA spec for $USD722.50. Which is $90 less than what I paid in Manhattan last year!

If you are very keen let me know and I could buy the one in the UK which I assume is more appropriate for me and you can have the new USA spec one I have. Certainly cheaper than $722.50!

Cheers

With the voice modules, I don't actually think there is a difference between a US one and a Australian one, since both places speak english just with different accents. My voice module is from the UK and it worked fine in my Canadian spec car. I would think that an Aussie one should work in a US car (I'm not sure on this so don't hold me to it!). I think the issue comes from different languages. A while ago someone asked me if I change the language in the car (ie from touch screen) will the voice change with it (ie. all languages loaded just have to switch them in the menu). So, I switched the car over to French and tried the voice, no luck, it didn't recognize French. So, I believe as long as the voice module is from an english speaking country, it will work.
