Default Does the 2000 S-Type 3.0 V6 have a PCV valve?

Hi there

I've got a vacuum leak and I've got a load of parts from Jaguar but I really can't work out what goes where.

XR8 45730 - ( 90 DEGREES ) ELBOW BREATHER HOSE

This one I've fitted no problem, it went in the V of the engine under the inlet manifold and fuel rail, my old one did have a hole in it. Since fitting this car is improved but not spot on.

MY PROBLEM PARTS

I also have:-
XR8 39224 - This goes on the plastic vacuum line which connects to the throttle body, problem is where do I connect the other end?

I also have parts:-
C2S51409 - which is a PCV valve and I can't find anywhere where this goes or would fit, does my car even have one of these?

C2S50039 - This is a part of rubber hose with different diameter size holes each end. I think this goes onto the metal/plastic pipe at the back of the engine which the 90degrees elbow is connected to in the V of the engine which I've already fitted.

My problem is XR8 39224 should I be forcing this into C2S50039 and just forgetting the PCV Valve (C2S51409) or does that PCV valve need to be fitted somewhere or do I require another part/adapter to make XR8 39224 and C2S50039 fit together.

If anyone has any pictures or knows where I am going wrong, it would be a great help.

Gibbo:
Yes, there is a PCV, but its hidden under the intake manifold. Apparently its a common failure on early S-types;

Check the FAQ: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...lacement-4150/

and this: Changing Spark Plugs S type Jaguar 3.0 v6 - YouTube

Watch both parts of the video.

Good luck!

Hi there

Well I've changed the PVC elbow which sits in the V, it did indeed have a hole in it. But my problem still persist, though its improved the car is still not 100%.

I really hope I don't need to go down there again as its a right big job, could that valve cause my issue as my issue seems like that of a vacuum leak.

There was oil deposits in my PVC piping but as its a vent for oil vapours I'd assume this is normal?

My issue is when changing up gears and the revs are below 3000rpm the revs jump 200-300rpm when I depress the clutch and take 1-2s to fall back to 1000rpm and the car never seems to completely come off throttle so my MPG is a tad poor. For example if I take my foot of the accelerator going down hill in 4th at about 2000rpm the MPG only goes upto circa 60mpg and there is little to no engine braking. If however if I drop to a lower gear, still no gas pedal I do get engine braking and 99mpg. It just seems to be the engine always wants to be revving to approx 1200-1500rpm, proof of this is placing the car in neutral when coasting along the revs will remain at 1500rpm until coming to a stop.

I am getting fedup now as I've replaced the both the rubber elbows, the one in the V of the engine and the one at the back of the engine. I've tried spraying carb cleaner around the engine but seems to detect nothing.

Is there anyway I can test for vacuum leak any other way, like can I try plugging some lines or disconnecting stuff and if so where?

If you think you may have a leak get an OBD tool that does live data and watch the fuel trims.

Smile 1999 s type 3.0 PCV valve fitting .

Hi I have just stripped and replaced the vacuum pipe below the injection manifold on my 1999 s type 3.0 for an air leak and poor idle.I thought i would post some pictures of the PCV valve and where it fits as there does not seem to be any on the net showing the early cars and their fitments.

That valve does not seem to fit there. As far as I know early s-types did not have this valve at all.

Now that (aka crankcase breather valve) is interesting. Does it have a hose (I suppose it must) and if so where does the other end go?

Well I took my old one out from the oil separator as it was blocked/sticking ! and fitted into the internal barbs built into the separator box and fitted the new one in its place and it is definitely a factory fit item , so I guess early cars had it fitted there .The pipe has a rubber adaptor hose from the large end onto a smaller male to male connector which would have the 90 degree hose that splits ( as per all the air leak threads on this forum ) and the hose then bolts to the back of the n/s cylinder head turns through 90 degrees and appears just above the cam-box cover where it has another 90 degree hose and then a hard plastic pipe down to the front of the inlet manifold just under where the throttle body fits . I own a 1999 and a 2001 3.0 s type and they are both the same.
