Those instructions appear to be a way to work around a pop-up blocker. Or, possibly a way to work around a file association that's not doing what it should (or is simply unwanted).

Instead, you must now register with Jaguar TOPIx which is a documentation service. Enter your VIN and you get lots of info about your vehicle! The Owner handbooks are free. For those that may still have issues, I've revisited this and found as follows......

Click on Handbook download
Choose model type
Then owners handbook
click continue
click on year required
Choose relevant version
In my case - X type drivers handbook English RHD

Even so, you may have to go through the process 2-3 times ( HOLD DOWN THE CTRL KEY WHILST CLICKING ON VERSION REQUIRED!! )

It will open a new page and the drivers handbook WILL appear.

I've just tried this myself successfully several times now so it does work for those of you that need it!

 

Does anyone have a 2003 S Type to dowmload it would be greatly appreciated I went to the download area and it did nothing

I downloaded all 9 sections of the 2002 S-Type Owners Manual - 208 pages from the Topix website listed in another posting in this thread.

I combined all of the pages into one new PDF file - 2002 S-Type Owners Manual.PDF

Just been wandering around TOPIx again (dull-ish) and found that sometimes when you select the Owner tab the resulting page does NOT have Owner Handbook as a choice. (Popups become irrelevant at this point!)

It was there for a 2004 S-Type but not a 2000 one

Just me or is this a "feature"?

edit: I got the 2001 owner's (driver's) handbook book OK, which should be the same

 

I have a S-type 2001 that is having inconsistencies when I enable the cruise control and it is getting worse. I just came back from a trip and cruise control worked about half the time. It seems like something is starting to go. Does anyone have any ideas?

Yes, I also have had a problem using the weblink in this thread. The weblink brings up a blank webpage. I discovered that there are 2 webpage addresses that will bring you the Jaguar Topix webpage.

Note I put the ** before and after the weblinks so you can copy the weblinks into your web browser if you have any trouble with the embedded ones in this post. I also removed the 1st letter from the weblinks (the w in www and the h in http).

I need a handbook for a 2000 stype

The 2001 S-Type Owners Manual (Left Hand Drive) should be the same as the 2000 S-Type.

I downloaded all 8 sections of the 2001 S-Type Owners Manual - 177 pages from the Topix website (plus the 11 pages of the supplement handbook).

I combined all of the pages into one new PDF file - 2001 S-Type Owners Manual.PDF

Update (3/23/13): I noticed that the PDF file and the Topix website for this Owners Manual (left hand drive) did not have any illustrations.

I found most of them on the other Jaguar.com website - only problem is that some of them only relate to right hand drive. I fixed at least one of them by doing ahorizontal flip of the illustration. Some of the others, I was able to use 2002 S Type illustrations.
Maybe the members that have the 2001 S Type Drivers Handbook can look thru this PDF and compare it to their handbook and send me a PM with a page scan of whatever is missing or incorrect.
