Default location of Camshaft Position Sensor

Hi all,

I'm trying to find the location of the Camshaft Position Sensor for my Jaguar S-Type 3ltr v6 2001.

I have got the new one and have been searching a lot on this site and the web. Could someone point me in the right direction?

thanks bigalan

Here's the sensor locations for your S-Type:

The CPS is item 3.

I knew I had some pics of the camshaft sensors (CMP)

I often find a drawing of what the sensor looks like is as much, if not more help than where it's located.

The full description of possible causes for P0341 on the 2001 S-Type is:

Bank 2 CMP Sensor disconnected
Bank 2 CMP Sensor gap incorrect / foreign matter on sensor face
Bank 2 CMP Sensor sensing circuit: open circuit, short circuit to ground, short circuit to high voltage
Bank 2 CMP Sensor reference ground circuit (to splice) open circuit
Bank 2 CMP Sensor failure

Although sensor failure is the likely cause, don't discount cleaning required or bad harness connections before splashing the cash.
