if your cell phone has bluetooth capabilities you have to link the two. your owners manual has directions on how to. if you dont have one or need assistance let me know.

It almost surely does NOT have bluetooth. It's a cell phone, so put a SIM card in if it hasn't one. Swap in your other phone's card if you wish.

turn ignition swith to on and press the telephone button on the audio panel. enter ##3#*# using the panel keyboard. press the on-screen call icon or call button on the screen. prepare your phone to connect using blutooth through settings on your phone. select search for devices after search select jaguar and enter code 1313 press ok to confirm. hope this helps

Er.... your jag phone is what I meant (almost certainly) NOT having bluetooth.

This has been a bit confusing.

The pre-2005 models used a Jaguar phone and wiring that was not bluetooth compatible.

The 2005 and on models used a bluetooth module that was not compatible with the older model.

You have a choice. You can use the older Jaguar phone, if you have one or can find one, or you can refit your car for bluetooth. It is said that this is not terribly difficult to do.

Look at Msg #7 in this thread for a pdf that explains how to make the conversion.

The first question that needs to be asked.... Does your car actually have the integrated phone. A GREAT many people think that just because there is a phone button on the stereo that it has the phone while the cold reality is majority of them do not have a phone installed. All the radios have the phone button since it is an accessory. The easy check is look up at the overhead console. Between the sunvisor and console there will be a separate microphone installed on the headliner.

Do the pre-2005, Jaguar integrated phone, cars have the headliner microphone?

I had always thought that this type installation used a handset that was stored in the console. Curious...

Er, mine has the jag phone but I don't think the mic's there! Must look up and make sure....
(And mine's NOT bluetooth; it's a 2004 STR with satnav, premium Alpine etc.)

Yes, the handset is in the console but you can leave it there and use the system hands free so there's a mic SOMEWHERE lol.

Well ... if you find the microphone, let us know. <g> Do you have to speak very slowly and carefully into the Jaguar head emblem in the steering wheel?

The early cars used a mic in the overhead console. Many complaints about poor sound quality. Then the external mic came out and it plugs into the overhead console. Here is a picture of the external mic if you have one.

Definitely no separate mic visible in the headliner, but there's a grille in the roof console so that is probably the mic.

Default 2005 bluetooth???

I have a 2005 STR and it doesn't have bluetooth that I'm aware of. And it has mic's all over the inside cabin, so I assume they were meant for voice recongition and the phone???? I guess I can research and look at the manual but how does this thing work? I have an iPhone 4 that suck in the car and was wondering if I can use the car phone built-in (if it is, how can I check)???? I don't have Navigation.

Thanx.

First things First.. All those little buttons are sensors for other things, like climate control. Not microphones....

Second of all... All Jaguar head units (stereos) in 2005 have built in CONTROLS for the phone...Nothing more. The phone had to be added as an extra module. They just built one stereo since that would lessen the complication of adding the phone later. (Also a convenient way to up sell customers on the phone as well when they ask "What does that phone button do?"

The easiest way to check for the phone is to look for the microphone pictured below in post #13 from Tbird6. Also, if you unscrew and pull the console box, there should be a phone module mounted there. (That is where it goes when it is added). If no module, then no phone. If you wish to add it, it is pretty easy but real expensive.. I have yet to find one on the cheap... Less $$$ to pull the head unit and replace it with one that has built in bluetooth.

On my 2001 (with no indication of an installed phone) the phone button on the dash and the steering wheel mute the radio so you can take a phone call.

I just bought a 55 plate S type 2.7D and the buttons do exactly the same. I was under the impression that the post-facelift models had Bluetooth as standard fitment.
Apparently not!
