Default S-Type 03 - Full Swap

Hello guys!

I've been a fan of my car for years - I drive 2002.5 S-type Sport edition with mid options - regular seats and NAV for 5 years already. I recently got a chance and took it - 2002.5 STR 4.2 R with only 30k Miles and good condition, full options. Only problem is that it is not legal for a drive - no passport on it's body.

My plan is too swap ALL the parts
, since rough russian roads gave a lot of wear to my car. Is there anybody with the same in past? I'm planing swap for may-June this year, so gathering all techdocs from JEPC and JTIS and advices. I know my car from A to Z, but never had an experience with 4.2SC.

So I'will be happy to get your advices!

Welcome to the forum kir0778,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to S-Type forum. This is the place to post technical questions about your model.

Why does the car not have any papers?
would it not be easier to get a copy of the original papers re issued as an original str will be more valuable than an upgrade to your old car.

I would do that if I could - but it is not possible I only got papers for engine, and it is not possible to issue them from a body - probably because a fee in our country would be twice as a price of new XF)
Car came from another country - it is not legal to drive it in mine.

So I decided to have a full swap - when I say full I mean everything - even dash with seats.

At the moment my plan:

-Take of all body parts and interior and all underneath plastics - all the things wich can be harmed or scratched.
-If needed cut off metal parts of the body from donor wich will give more space to get to the parts.
-Take of radiator and etc
-Roll out front subframe with engine and transmission, and suspension bolted from donor
-Than swap wiring and prior electronic and distribution boxes.
-Swap small parts (brake cylinder etc...)
- Bolt on rear sub
- Front sub
-Cooling system etc

At what I have concerns - it's easy to take off all the parts because I can cut off metal panels if needed.
It is easy for me to swap an electronics and wiring
Probably small parts and rear frame too.

Problem is order at the moment assembling front subframe. I would be a lot easier if or front frame would be bolted - but it is welded as I remember.

I don't think anyone has ever mentioned such a thing before. You'll see the STR is different in various ways but if you can do the things you mention then I suppose it should be possible.

Thanks! At that point my cars are the same hand drive, so that is not a problem.I mostly worry about subframes/k-frames/engine mount holes and body structure is there any difference in ST and STRб, if there are any changes in the engine bay.

Here are some questions I recently try figure out - why I'm trying do that before actual car delivered is because If i will need some parts I will have to order them:

And sounds insane, but what do you think about possibility for detaching the radiator from upper tie and some minor parts such as heater, reservoir an etc and roll it out carefully with the engine) Purpose is not only to save time - but to save factory connections - you know how brittle jags can be)
