Default s-type #6 cyl misfire

Did scan at auto parts store, came up with #6 cylinder misfire. Check eng light on and runs rough. Is #6 last on driver side at firewall? Go ahead and replace Ing coil ?
2002 s type 3.0 160k.
How do I find the code PDF's in stickies and JTIS on here?

Luckily #6 stayed in the same spot! 2002.5 is MY 2003 facelift in the US.

Have you downloaded JTIS? If so click the DTC icon at the top of the page for the codes.

That's why there's confusion, I try telling mechs that 2002 is a split model year.
Thanks.

Jaguars are generally all 'split model years'

This is historic going back to the days when the factory would close down in July and the new Model Year (effectively the next Calendar Year) specification would be introduced on the return to work.

Just change it. 13 years old coil baked every time, can die.

Hi I love my new V8 S type 2001 however seems I've been posting on wrong thread
it's got 63k and looks amazing, Light only came on once not since I changed battery tho, done to eliminate the possibility or spark being weak as it was showing as almost dead!

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ration-109901/

Despite have diagnostic with no codes, new plugs, one new coil because one was knackered but engine still misses at idle and at 50-60 mph with or with hard acceleration kick down seems to clear it.

Shall I change all coils? which ones? do they have to be OEM? the garage charged me £40 for one!! I have an offer of 8 guaranteed coils from a breaker who guarantees them.
Problem is he says could be lambda sensor,Air flow meter, cam gaskets etc??

If anyone knows of a Jag S type Mechanic in Sussex please please pm me. dont want to pay £98 per hour labour tho !

4.0 engine has a small number of oddities (not in the 4.2) such as bore wash (which this isn't) plus the same as the later 4.2 issues. Misfires are commonly bad coil(s). If you're lucky you get codes so it's easy to know which ones to change. Do you have pending or actual codes? Which ones?

Thanks for the reply, I took it to a v8 specialist who couldn't get any codes at all ! Good sign I thought, he told me that the plugs were poor and one coil was broken which ge found visually, changed all plugs and coil but still no joy yesterday she was driving lovely one minute then missing the next :
have gound 8 lucas coils reasonably priced but not sure if any good? Thanks again
