Is the valet button pushed in the glove box?

Believe it or not, it tends to be the problem.

Hi camw510
I downloaded all 9 sections of the 2002 S-Type Owners Manual from weblink to Topix website for Jaguar. I combined all the sections into 1 large PDF file.

Here is the weblink to the sticky thread (Handbook download) in S-Type forum:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ownload-10578/

Go to post# 31 titled 2002 S_Type Owners Manual - All 208 pages in 1 PDF file
That posting has the weblink to the PDF in my mediafire account.

2002 Owner Manual was the closest manual with the illustrations that I could find to your 2000 S-Type.

Look at page 2-8 for the valet button's information & illustration showing it in the glove compartment.

There is also another thread titled "jag trunk button not working" in the S-Type forum section:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...working-19619/

go down to post# 2 - the valet button in the glove compartment was stopping access to the trunk (boot) via the trunk button.

Default Trunk (Boot) wont open

I had the same problem.
I had a phone charger cable inside the door that would push the valet button in when I closed the door.
2001 S Type v-6, automatic, 88,000 miles, runs like new, knock on wood.

Anything between the valet switch and the glove compartment door will push the valet button in.

My 06 S Type does have a key option to the far left by the lic plate light granted the motor actuator is making an odd noise.
