It sounds like you don't have voice command. does it work with the music off ?

Ditto, if all you get is mute, then you do not have that option.

Thanks for the reply to the both of you. Is that an option that I can be installed, and would I have to replace my navigation system to have it installed? I would think that if it was equipped a navigation system that it would also have voice command. Shows how much I know

It will output voice if not set to be quiet (*). JaguarVoice is where the car inputs i.e. you issue commands. As above, unlikely you have it but why not email Jaguar Corp and ask for full info on your car.

(*) read the manual
free to download........

if the button does nothing when no music you don't have voice, i think you might be able to install the voice module but not 100% sure, someone on here will know for sure

First, if you had Voice control when the button is pressed, the S-Type will show the message "Listening" in the Message Center of the instruments.

Second, yes, you can add Voice, it's just a salty proposition. The attached bulletin lists what is needed.

Cheers,

Huh what? You could get them with voice control? Anyone know what the costs would be to retrofit this?

I wanted to add this and blue tooth to my 2005 STR. Could not find used modules and it's just too expensive from Jaguar. I settled for the ACM and love the USB music!!

Anyone interested can Search on JaguarVoice (possibly just voice but that won't match) for previous threads. Yes you can retrofit, no you don't lose your nav (why on earth would you???).

As I recall, adding JaguarVoice to my 2005 S-type 3 cost about $700. It takes a module and a cable. It doesn't disable the Nav unit. All this stuff is on a local area network and the JagVoice unit is just one more "subscriber" on the LAN.

Biggest difficulty I have is remembering all the commands. My wife drives the Jag everyday so when I drive it there's a lot to learn all over. The module helps. Press the button and say, "Help" and it will provide a "top-down" explanation of the commands.

I have a brand new voice module and the microphone that is required to upgrade you car. The module is for the US market but should suit other markets. Also I have a new Bluetooth module as well if anyone is looking to upgrade. These modules plug straight in.

Can you confirm whether you have Navigation or not, the books would be different.
