Default Evaporative Purge Solenoid replacement

As a follow up to the thread I started on the noise problem I was having (ticking behind the tach) for my '05 XJ8-L, the dealer has agreed to replace the Evaporative Purge Solenoid in the car. He says that it will still make an occasional noise (which I can live with) but that it should get rid of the constant ticking that I'm currently experiencing.

I'd like to hear from anyone else that has replaced this part. Did it solve the problem? I'm hoping for the best but still a little weary.

Yep, that's the sound. I'm hoping that a new unit (which I will ask to be insulated as much as possible) will fix it. It seems ridiculous that a car of this level of quality should have this problem. Does it go away completely in warm weather?

Thom2:

When are you getting yours replaced? I would be curious to see if replacing makes any difference. It doesn't seem that it usually does...

Replacement seems to have worked, it's been over a week now and not a peep from the new one. Done in Wilmington, DE.

I have found that above freezing it does not act up. The colder it is the louder it is... Above freezing no ticking at all.
