Default Love affair coming to I close I fear - seeking advice

Dear F-Type enthusiasts:

I'm probably going to be selling my 2014 (low, low mileage) SV8 in the spring. My wife wants to get a '17 C63 Cabriolet and we can't really justify 2 hot convertibles in the household. We need a 5 seater to shuttle the family around. I've had the last 2 "spare" cars and I told her when she's ready for a new one, it would be her turn.

What would you recommend as the best way to sell this? I know I'll get screwed on a trade-in, but need to make enough on the private sale to warrant the sales tax savings I'd enjoy on the trade-in.

If anyone is interested in learning about it, please PM me. I'm in the greater Philadelphia area.

Now I'm thinking about what my "sensible" car might be - starting to look at 550i x-drives....

She's already a newer model, so not much depreciation on her yet!

I suggest you start hoarding cars. Do you need the money? If not, just keep it, as you will inevitably regret selling it at some point.

My wife has a C63. Great car. Fast and a sleeper. But rear seat leg room is lacking. With a rag top, either the trunk or rear seat leg room (or both) will be compromised. That would be my only concern.

But - Happy wife, happy life.

I'd take a hard review of BMW. I believe they've reduced their warranty coverage from 4 years, 50 k to less. Why not an F pace? Porsche Macan can be had for price of 550.

F-Type to SUV? Now, that's one way to castrate someone. Get an M5 if you're hell-bent on losing the F-Type for a 5 seater.

You couldn't pry my F-Type away, but the F-Pace isn't a bad option. Same engine and transmission. You'd be stepping down from a 8-cyl to 6-cyl, but that, too, might change in the next MY. Admittedly, we cheated and have one of each. Happy wife.

Don't be so harsh, it could have been a minivan. SUV is just loosing 1 out of 2 soldiers.

That's the spirit problem is once you start to hoard it's tough to stop.

Then you have to build a shed to put them in.
Then you have to buy a charger for each one so if you want to play.
Then you have to buy a cover for each one.
Then you have to replenish mouse poison every month.
Then you have to drive occasionally to keep fresh.
Then you have to get special insurance as it's no longer a daily driver.
Then you have to flush the anti-freeze every 5 years even with few miles.
Then you have to buy new tires as they start to check with age not wear.
Then you have to keep pumping up slow leaking tires.
Then you have to keep justifying with the wolf why they are out there.
Then you have to feed the leather every couple years to keep soft.
Then you have to figure out why they won't start when you want them to.
Hoarding is a perfect idea... trust me!

I already have another SUV - '16 Yukon XL Denali - great for hauling the gang and all the gear to the beach and mountains. So, the 550 was a small compromise to get 5 seater so we're not always arriving in a big bus!

Besides, I didn't give much time to the F-Type - as I said, got the vehicle in September of 13 and have not yet crossed 5,000 miles.

I didn't see those two in particular as bad 5 person haulers, Macan in particular for reasonable money.

Start customizing a macan and the price eclipses an F Type in short order. Nobody on this forum would get the four cylinder.

10 years of 10 XJ12's in the shed can be... problematic. A Zen attitude is a must, which at times, I don't seem to be able to locate mine. Generally right after I go down to start 10 cars and only 7 wake up. This can be
"a problem"...

Macan GTS leaves some room for a few goodies, but yeah you can get pricey quick with any Porsche. But the resale may be better.
