Jaguar Intensive You Tube Repair Channel
Myself and 2 Jaguar Master Techs with 30+ years experience are serious about starting a You Tube channel specializing in the Jaguar Cars, repair segments, and maintenance . What do you guys think and what would you guys like to see repaired, maintained, or looked at? We are going to cover as many models as possible based on car availability.

Great idea. Keep in mind that the XJ series cars had and have more service issues than the XKs not to mention a much larger head count. As I understand it the success of a You Tube channel is predicated on the number of "hits".
Short of the Pick up truck crowd I can't think of a more interested & dedicated group of DIY people on the planet as you find on these forums.

We have service manuals, but I've concluded that those service manuals were written assuming that one has already been through a vocational/technical school for mechanics. Back in the early days of the internet I tested an idle speed control valve according to the procedure in the factory service manual and I thought it was toast so I bought a new one for $350. I tested the new one and it also appeared to be non-functional. After some searching, I found a video online, a completely different kind of car, but the same kind of part showing how to test it. The book said to apply voltage to four terminals in a sequence A,B,C & D and check that the valve would fully open, then apply voltage to the terminals in reverse order, D,C,B & A and check that it fully closed. What the book didn't explain but the video did was that you have to go A,B,C,D,A,B,C,D,A,B,C,etc a total of 255 times to open the valve. Just one sequence made barely discernible movement of the plunger and I thought it was broken. That video would've saved me $350 since electrical parts could not be returned.

Excellent idea, Lothar! I would surely follow this! A wishlist from this end:
1 How to use SDD. I do use SDD for the occasional DTC check and health of my XKR. It has always been in 'monitoring' mode though, never had the guts to modify features, etc. There are some training material about how to use SDD but they won't cater for relative novices and it's hard to come by demos about how to, for example, program keys, enable features, etc, so a walk-through these would be most helpful. Who knows, maybe even a teamviewer session which essentially gives you the facility to do remote programming!
2 Coolant fluid replacement. Whilst it's well documented in the workshop manual, seeing the real thing would surely help, especially for someone like me who is definitely not a full time mechanic;
3 Power steering fluid change.
4 Checking/reneweing drive belts. I mean, how do you get to work in such a tight place?
5 Suspension bushing/component renewing and replacement;
6 Water pump replacement.
Will post more when they come to mind

Great Idea
This is such a great idea. Totally agree with your 1st project as the 5.0 water pump. I think the focus of future projects should being the regular maintenance items that have not already been covered or those becoming more relevant e.g. plugs on 5.0 with more vehicles approaching higher mileages.

Parts interchanges would be hugely beneficial, not necessarily as a stand alone video but as you make all you repairs. Suspension is the most common one that comes to mind but modules would be helpful as well.
Mods - there are so many on the XK thread alone from pulleys, exhaust, retrofitting bluetooth (phone and music), retrofitting back up cameras.
I would also like to see module repair (touch screen) is a recent one for me. How is the inside constructed, how can it be tested, are firmware updates available? Are there companies who specialize in modifying various modules or simply repairing them?
This is a great idea. If you are doing modules and other mods that require a donor who can be remote, I will volunteer my car and experience as well.
