Default Forum meet & Mackies Transmissions Factory tour 29TH MARCH 2014

Dear members,
there's been some talk recently of a proposed Jaguarforums meet event in the near future https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...-event-105106/

With this in mind, I've had some recent discussions with 2 of the following companies...........

Mackies Transmissions - one of the UK's leading remanufacturers of automotive and marine transmissions. They can undertake regular servicing as well as remanufacture and are highly recomended http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&frm=1&source=web&cd=1&cad =rja&ved=0CDAQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mackie-transmission.com%2F&ei=Cr3vUrr2Kc2ShQeOkYA4&usg=AF QjCNHjnUR5w-wV5aPHSMiQJSKoSyydSg&sig2=NZaaQLSbzRhnWLRLtA71pg&b vm=bv.60444564,d.ZG4

Mackies partners with Hyundai, Automatic choice, Ssangyong, Xpart/ CAT logistics (MG Rover) Chevrolet (Daewoo) Nissan UK, Subaru and ZF GB as an A rated supplier.

Prestige Jaguar - One of the leading Jaguar specialist Indy's in Paisley, nr Glasgow. Prestige offer servicing, dealer level diagnostics and much more at very affordable price levels Home | Jaguar Specialist | Paisley | Prestige Jaguar Ltd

In discussions with Mackies, they've offered us a factory tour to see their facilities and see what they can offer, with the possibility of JF member discounts moving forward.....see attached pdf
refreshments & finger food provided

I'm also trying to work it so that we can visit Prestige Jaguar on the same day to view their facilities and see whats on offer there. Ian & Dougie have both been very enthusiastic about this.

Its all just an idea at the moment, but the plan would be to visit both if possible, have a "meet" at the same time getting to know fellow forum members and check out each others vehicles in the process.

I would also make sure that the forum banner is there & available for pics / signing

C'mon guys, get your name added and pop along.

The factory tour and presentation at Mackies alone should make it worthwhile, plus the chance at forum discount for auto transmission . rear diff services etc.

I should be in a better position to speak with both Mackies and Prestige mid week next week so should have a better idea od timescales at that time

UPDATE..........................Thats the crux of it as it stands, but we can change / amend as necessary moving forward.
I'd suggest that it may be of interest to anyone within a 60 mile radius, but I'm sure we can try to work something out for those willing to travel further distances.

12/02/14 - I was in Prestige Jaguar in Paisley today, the big cat getting checked out and an oil change done.
Ian and Dougie are two great guys, very friendly and I can see a relationship forming there already. They have a great little setup and Jags absolutely everywhere, with tons of work on the go.
In fact so much so that they are looking to move to premises at least twice the size a few doors away and installing 6 lifts....

I'm looking to book into Mackies Transmissions and pay them a visit in the next week or so too.

I feel sure they could be a great service shop to use for anyone in the central belt of Scotland, for sure.

Please add you name to the list if interested.......

Please keep em coming guys, absolutely the more the merrier

I'm also thinking for afterwards, any of those that are interested, we could head on over to The Innkeepers Lodge at Strathclyde Park, this is a Toby Carvery and offers a carvery meal for £5.99
There should also be ample parking and would be a good opportunity to discuss the days events and a chance to get to know other members.

Provisionally here from 1pm until 3pm

Jim,

I'm well outside the '60 mile radius' but it's well worth the trip.

Thank you gentlemen,

I have a job issue at present so I will duck out, but if things change it will be an emphatic yes, yes yes!

I apologise, but good luck to all who can make it and when my situation changes, just hold me back!
Regards, Stu

Highly recommend a visit to Mackies, I had the transmission for my BMW740 rebuilt there about 8 years back, very professional guys, would be great to see them at work.
Shame I'm now in the north east of England otherwise I'd be up for it definately

Some expensive diagnostics kit making an appearance through the clips!

Hi Jim,
Thank you for your e-mail and I would be interested in attending. Though having a manual gearbox, it would be interesting to see the factory and to visit Prestige Jaguar in Paisley. As you will note I'm well wthin your 60 mile radius figure.

That would be good. It's a long time since I've actually seen an XJS on the road.
