Default Road trip Glasgow to Brighton to Glasgow

Hi all,
leaving at around 11pm tonight for a wee trip to Brighton, for my nieces wedding on Saturday.

It's a family affair ( obviously ) the wife and I, daughter, SIL and their kids in their car, about as quick in real terms as airports / flying / hire cars etc etc so why not, always up for a road trip.

Anyhow, may be down in your neck of the woods at some point, so I'll be on the lookout for any potential Jag owners from here, If you see me feel free to give me a wave / flash ( the lights of course )

Looking forward to Brighton, one of the few places I haven't been to in the British Isles, hoping for sun and good weather.

Friday and Saturday I'll be on it ( BIG TIME ) then head home Sunday
Cheers all

Have a safe and uneventful journey & watch out for congestion on M25/Heathrow area and top of M23..

I was expecting the usual 'arrived safely - having a wonderful time' message before now.

Hey Graham,
left at 11pm for the run down.
Allowing for toilet and refreshment breaks etc I estimated enough time to get to London and beyond the M25 before and rush hour chaos ensued, we made it in good time arriving at Brighton around 8.30am

The weather was awesome ( in fact way too warm and more than we're used to ) but good for the wedding and the day went well.
The wedding finished at around 11pm ( Scottish versions seem to go on much longer lol ) and we made the decision to pack up and head home, leaving at around 1am, maybe a little later.

We wanted to get home as Tress could visit her mother during Sunday as you may know she's been unwell for quite some time now.
Well, unfortunately we got a call around 5.30am to advise she had died in her sleep around 4.10am, needless to say Tress devastated even although it's been coming for some time.

To say she was a mess is a massive understatement. The hospice agreed to keep her there and available until around 9am, so the casual 75mph drive became a little more than that and speeds increased dramatically.

Needless to say the rest of the day hasn't been the best!
Thankfully Anne has gone and is now at peace, this week will be hard

Jim,

Sorry to hear the bad news. Even though expected for some time, it will still have come as a terrible blow for Tress.

Thanks Graham, yes, a very long time coming for sure. She really is much better off now, quality of life was non existent and hard to watch.
Tress was a real mess certainly for the first few hours, then getting on with organising everybody and everything as we speak.

She seems much better but I'm sure it'll hit her hard after the funeral next Tuesday when it all goes quiet
