Hi Andy, I will add you to the list - please keep an eye on the thread as we get nearer the date as I'll be putting an itinery up and confirming the timings as well as if I have managed to get the auto box specialist to come along to see us :-)
I look forward to meeting you, and your Mk 2 on the day.

I know winter is usually a dark grey sort of time of year with plenty of rain, wind, and bad weather leaving us little choice but to hunker down in front of a TV watching archived film clips of our favourite cars on TopGear..

In south-east UK we don't do this - we organise our bi-annual Brighton convoy & meet!

This years winter meet is happening on Sunday 7th December - with a convoy travelling down from Pease Pottage Services to Madiera Drive, everyone parking up in one huge block of cars, followed by a fixed price big breakfast to set us up for the morning. I am in the process of organising what I can and a full itinery will be listed in the next few weeks including all and any costs there may be.. so you know everything you need to know before the event.

It's a great chance for you to have a break from the Christmas rush and shopping and to have some time with great company, fantastic cars, a mug of tea and something to eat..

Please note that with this being the Winter meet it is open to other marques - with a warm Jaguar welcome for everyone.

In case you are wondering - this will be the third Bi-Annual Brighton meet and the details of the last one can be found here: UK South East Meet Spring/Summer 2014 in Brighton if you want to check it out..Just so you know who has indicated an interest (in no particular order) in attending on the day, so far it looks like this....

If you would like to be added please just make a post saying so (or if non member email me at JaguarForumsUK@solidlinux.co.uk to be added) and I will be very happy to add you to the list.

Listed below are Car details plus occupants (inc driver) where we have the info.

It's fantastic to see the degree of support we have for these bi-annual meetings.

The winter one is a trade off between potentially variable winter weather, and food, mugs of tea, good company and a break from the Christmas rush.. something we all need I think :-)

We have six weeks to go currently until the day.. so over the next couple of weeks I will be getting the price of the big breakfast plus mugs of tea sorted, making contact with the autobox specialist, and touching base with Tony at Harwoods Jaguar to confirm what car he will be bringing along on the day.

So within the next three weeks we will hopefully have the full itinery up on here, along with all the costings for the parking and the food (so those of us on a budget know exactly what we are looking at :-))..

Looking at the amount of interest so far I believe it's going to be a similar sized convoy and meet to the summer one which will be great - and will give us a fair chance at having a crack at getting Jaguar involved next summer (yes, I'm not letting go of the Jaguar sponsorship chasing yet a while :-))

Currently we have cars spanning 46 years of Jaguar production coming along - an incredible thing to manage, and a great photo opportunity for a lot of us :-) The initial convoy meet will, if similar to last time take over quite a large chunk of the services car park, and the convoy down the A23 and through the centre of Brighton will make quite an impact.

We will be parking up in a solid block not far from The Jag gallery (the owner has an E-Type!) which will be open for viewing for those of us who want some culture, we'll be having a big breakfast taking over the Seagull restaurant, a great chance to check out the showroom car that will be coming, & hopefully have a chat about any gearbox issues with the autobox specialists..

I can't control the weather but will do my best to ensure a great day for everyone :-)

Anyone wanting to come along that hasn't signed up yet - why not put your name forward? The event is free, any and all costs for parking and food will be listed in advance and kept as low as possible, and its a good chance to meet up with everyone you see online and put faces to names and cars..

OK, I have managed to get the fixed price meal deal sorted.. after the couple of problems we had at the Seagull Restaurant at the last meet I have moved us to the 'Madiera Cafe', just a little further down Madiera Drive, for the December meet. I have negotiated their price down to match the fixed price we had at the last meet of £5 per person for breakfast with tea/coffee.
I am now currently working on the advertising with tourist board etc & I'll update you of course as I go with everything else :-)

If I can pull the last few bits together I honestly think it's going to come together as a fantastic winter meet.. I have been taking requests from members wanting to join the next Spring meet for a couple of months now as well :-)

Tony from Harwoods Jaguar has confirmed that as long as it is not sold in the meanwhile he will be bringing a showroom F-Type V8 Coupe along on the day.
Additionally Jaguar World Monthly will hopefully carry our event, and I am waiting on the VisitBrighton website to also confirm carrying our event..
Oh yes, plus I am also having another go at trying to get us in the local press for this as that would potentially give us a huge boost.

OK we have confirmation we are now listed at the visitbrighton tourism website :-)
We are listed at this link: JaguarForum - Participatory Event in Brighton, Brighton and Hove - VisitBrighton
Jaguar World Monthly say we should be listed (subject to the usual) in their next edition, and I am currently waiting to hear back from the Brighton Argus - see if I can finally get the local event coverage we really could do with for both the forum and the event :-) but have to admit I'm not holding my breath after last year.. but hey I'm giving it a go .. get me into training before I have another go at Jaguar UK looking for sponsorship for our summer event :-) I will update everyone as I go..

Incidentally the Madiera Cafe aligns itself with the biker community (see Madeira Cafe, Brighton | Cafes & Coffee Shops - Yell ) so maybe this is a chance to get them to add Jaguars to the list of communities they say frequent there :-)

Not wishing to spoil anyones fun but it may be worth having a look at the current thread on the JEC forum about convoys; just a heads up.

I suspect that, as this forum is not a UK registered motoring organisation, it would be a bit tricky for the MSA to try & levy a fine. But it may pay to re-label the 'convoy' as a 'social run' which seems to be exempted under new rules that are about to be published.
