Default Jaguar XK8 front end parts

Saw your project and the cutting you're doing...wondered if you still have the pieces you cut out of the front end, specifically the drivers side headlight area and the front upper bumper cover support.
Thanks
Dwight

Default XK8 front bumper support

Hey
Would really be interested in the front bumper support (picture attached), looks like you've removed it for your kit install.
Thanks

Default Rear seat had to go....

Fabric on the rear shelf was faded, couple of tears on the shelf and seats. SEAT DELETE! Not like anybody over 4 years old could fit back there anyway..:P

Just found this thread. I almost pulled the trigger on an Ash Mart kit a year ago but decided to get an XJ-S coupe instead.

Looking forward to your progress.

Default Wheels...

The wheels turned out great! I was wondering how the sidewalls would turn out with putting those tires on super-stretch rims.

Default Always something....

Hey, all. Got the wheels mounted on the car finally. So, here's my new dilemna and the picture tells all. There's a difference in the Vanquish/XK8 wheelbase by 3 or 4 inches and I guess it's becomes very apparent in the rear wheel well. I also included a collage pic of some other kits pics but their wheel well issue isn't nearly as apparent as mine.. I guess I'll have to just shift the wheel well forward. Very tempted to yank the Independent rear and go solid axle as I looked underneath and don't see any way of moving the IRS rearward and don't want to undertake lengthening the driveshaft..

I've started on filling in the trunk area, fiberglass so far.. You can see I've been taping lines around the rear window and back glass. I'm gonna try to modify that area to look more like the Vanquish...

The door looks tighter though.

Agree, you have some work to do on the wheel arches.

Too much at the rear of the wheel and not enough at the front.

And if you make it bigger overall, your wheel will look lost.

Looks to me like the body is all out of register, both front and rear wheels are too far forward. No wonder the kit was on sale.

Strange. Have you sent pics to the manufacturer of the kit and asked him to weigh in? Either it's not fit correctly and needs to be shifted forward or it's fit correctly and others have likely complained as well. If so, I'm sure that some "standard" or suggested fix is known.

If I was there I'd be glad to help out, since I'm interested in knowing how big a headache this kit is. Still considering one myself.

It hits me that if you can find someone good with fiberglass they could reform the arches properly moving them forward, likely far cheaper (particulalry before paint) then trying to move the axle. And you could fix the front. Not trivial though by any means but it could be done. Fiberglass is used to modify wheelwells but the issue typically is that it doesn't work that well long term with a metal body (faster and cheaper though) on a fiberglass body it is likely the ideal solution. But you'd want someone who isn't learning on your car.

Default Updates...

Hey. Thanks for the interest RJ. I've been working on moving the rear end back some to fix the tire/wheel well issue. The IRS has about 1.5" of room and the driveshaft extends out that far... Alot of work but it'll have to do until I pull the rear eventually.

Lights. I bought some Gatling gun shrouds and projector lights. Probably get these amber halo lights and use them a parking lights.
