My Goodness!

These cars are designed and built in the British Midlands, a place with 10 times the rainfall we get, and they handle inclement weather very well. As for the drivers and passengers, I understand that many are transplants from desert climes and truly fear that any moisture will cause them to melt a la wicked witches in Oz.

At any rate, I'm still in rain or shine as long as someone else is still going. If the weather is not so great the drive will still be fun and the schnitzel may even taste better.

I'm seriously bummed.
What should have been our largest gathering yet, now reduced to one of our smallest.

I don't mind the rain forecast, because once we crest the summit we always hit blue skies, but it sounds like this is a good storm hitting both.

I spoke today with Gabe Stearns of Jaguar of Bellevue (last year he was with Jaguar of Seattle in Lynnwood). He drove to Leavenworth with us last year in an F-Type convertible from the dealer inventory and loved it. He will let me know for sure tomorrow but will probably join us in a new XE or F-Pace from the dealer. I'll post again when I know for sure.

I think this is going to be BIG rain, and we had another drop out. We're down to 5 cars. We should we consider delaying it...?

I spoke to F-PacePNW and it sounded like they will be dropping out too because of the weather.

If you do decide to postpone, I could pretty much do any weekend except next Saturday or Sunday, October 2nd. If you press on, have a great time! :-)

...you're kidding! OK, well maybe I'll get to go anyway if it gets postponed. Don't tell folks about the inaugural trip that involved 3 inches of snow on Snoqualmie. /lol

^lol I know, right!?!

I know Swimrefs feelings and his schedule, but am now questioning the wisdom of the weekend, and certainly the loss of all but our core group.

Should we push it off till the 24th? We need Yea/Nay from all, because we cannot leave a single participant waiting in Monroe.

The forecast for next Saturday, the 24th, is also rain.

The Seattle Jag Club has a drive I think I'll join on Saturday, October 1st. Would anyone like to join me on that? Here are the details. I will let them know if you want to join them.

Saturday, October 01, 2016 08:45am - 02:40pm
Fall Colors Tour - at Starbucks in Everett 3625 Broadway Ave to Snoqualmie

Funny, it's clear and sunny as I write this Friday morning, but I suppose it can't hold. Unfortunately, I cannot make it after this weekend until late October. As for the first year of this tradition, I think 3 inches is a bit exaggerated on the snow estimate (maybe .3 inches) but it probably felt that way in Brian's high torque monster on summer tires. I had a really good time that year and enjoyed having all 4 seasons in one drive, but then I really loved driving through the fire zone on our Grand Coulee expedition, so I guess that tells you something.

I wish I could go, especially since the starting point is 2 miles from home, but I'll be driving in the Alps that day. We're renting a M-B C class (possibly upgrading to a Porsche) for two weeks. The highlight will be driving the infamous Stelvio Pass (9045 ft.) with its killer hairpins and switchbacks (named best driving road in the world by Top Gear).

I don't much care to drive in a torrent. My car seems to have the dreaded cowl leak and acts up when it gets REALLY wet. I'm seeing up to an inch of rain in the forecast If the 24th or Oct 1st is good, I'll join either of those.

EVENT CANCELED

Well Folks, I just got off the phone with MuddyDog, and we agree that this weekend is a bust.
We've lost 75% plus of our attendees, with Muddy and I only participating because of obligation rather than desire.

Kev my friend, I was so looking forward to seeing you and Karen again, along with all the others, but I'm out... Hope you both have a great time in the Alps, and post pics as soon or often as you can. I'll make it priority to get together with both of you on your return.

TO ALL: Lets keep an open eye and the 24th and the 1st.
Muddy is out for the 24th which is a bummer as well.... (Why has this year been so darn difficult to set up drives? Grrrr)

Peace!
Vince

That is that, then. I never heard back from Gabe and don't have his number so let's hope he doesn't show up in Monroe at 9AM. When you guys get it rescheduled please give him a call at Jag of Bellevue as I'm sure he would be interested. Now, where did I hide that chore list for tomorrow?

I know, right?
Sorry we didnt have Gabe on the list... Kinda wished you would have reminded us to put him there because Muddy and I totally discussed if we had everyone covered, and thought we did. Not sure it would change the overall decision, but it just elevated the guilt factor, because the last thing we wanted was for someone to show, to an empty lot.

It you get a chance PM me his number, and I'll offer up apologies for blowing it.

To do list.... Yuck. Looks like housework for me...
My garage isn't big enough to do car work, so no new brake pads this weekend.... (Oh, and yes, I did wash and wax Clair yesterday...She's all dressed up and no place to go...sigh...)
