NJ 2004 XJ8 price question
Hi All,
I am looking at a black 2004 XJ with 29,000 miles on it. Except for a few superficial scratches the car looks show room new inside and out. Owner is widow and a friend of our family who we trust. Car was her husband's, has always been garaged and never in snow, only detailed not washed, and has only had one major repair in 10 years, a replacement fuel pump. The car was only rarely driven during the past few years because of the husband's illness. Is $9500 an unreasonable price to pay for a car that is nearly immaculate?
Thanks!
Shea

Hey Shea,
It has been very reliable, it has had a couple of minor hiccups but much fewer then my neighbor and his 7 series BMW. These higher end cars are very complicated with far more systems then the average car to go wrong. The AJ34 4.2L V8 in the X350 is pretty much bullet proof and one of the best V8's built. The ZF6hp26 trans used in the X350 is used in many other makes including BMW and Mercedes and has proved to be very reliable.
As far as mileage, it gets far better mileage then one would expect for a full size 4 door sedan with a 300 hp high performance engine. My 14 miles to work is pledged with stop lights, and as my wife has point out more then one time they always seem to be red for me, I get 18 to 20 MPG. If the Gods shine on me and I get more green lights it goes up to 22 MPG around town. On the highway at 75 MPH it gets 30 MPG.
