Get it scanned for codes. That will tell you exactly what could be wrong.

It could be a number of things as the X Type has sensors and electronic modules and components all over the place.
As said above get the code(s) read to try and pinpoint the cause of the problem(s)

Irish, what are you looking to do to your car? The sky is the limit. Granted, normally the wallet is the bigger limit. Sometimes you can buy something from off the shelf and get the look that you are after, other times you have to have it custom made. If I remember right, Buck's seats were custom done. I have contemplated having my seats redone in a nicer leather, possibly with a mix of suede or something of the like. Not quite sure what I would want. Guess I first need to get the stereo done before I get other projects going. LMAO.

As for your original problem, get the codes read and let us know. From there, we can get things taken care of for you.

It could be a dummy code, as it it turned out in my car.

Are the sport seats different then just the regualr model, i know the vdp has the piping?

My car isnt an X Type anymore its an XJ Sovereign.
The Soveriegn here in the UK comes standard with soft grained ruched piped leather.
My X Type had Cranberry Sports seats (a few pics on this forum) which were rare in the UK and never went to North America.
Miss them too!
I think to get similar piped seats in your X Type you would be looking at either re-upholstering or getting seats from a Sovereign (VDP) X-Type.
