2006 X Type 2.2d fan speed control module
Hi all
Please can someone help me with some info my fans go straight to the fastest speed when I start the car and don't stop or slow down until 5 seconds after I switch the ignition off, then the fans stop I have checked the voltage on the blue and white wire and there is none. I have checked the green and white wire and there is 12 volt on this wire. Both were checked with the engine running. Does this mean the fan control module is faulty and am i checking the right one which is top right hand of the fan assembly.
Thanks

Mine is doing the same thing almost recently. Just replaced my thermostat about 8 months ago from a crack in the housing. Mine doesn't immediately come on but your right it will run about 5 seconds after I shut the car down with or without the A/C unit running. It does jump to the fastest speed within just a minute or two after a cold start.

Silverwolf, if you checked the white wire with a blue stripe and that was reading 0 VDC and the fans were running, then that pretty much confirms you have a bad fan module. As for proving that the shop did what they said they did, can't help you there. You would have needed to mark the controller with a something before you took it in there to prove that they didn't change anything. This is why sometimes asking for the old parts to be left in the car can be helpful.

Thanks Thermo.
This is not the first time they have said they have done something and they have not. I had a bad rear wheel bearing which they told me they changed and when i picked my car up it was still making the noise. When pressed the after sales manager went into the garage manager and confronted him about it. The new bearing was still on the shelf. If it were not for the fact that the car is under warenty with them i would not take it back there.
