Default diagnostic plug...where is it please? 2005 model

Hello from Belfast.I have searched site and found its location to be under steering wheel but had a look earlier and spotted air bag cover and was afraid to pull panel off in case it exploded in my face.
The problem I have is engine light on my 2.5 v6 along with snow flake symbol.
A friend lent me his Maxiscan diagnostic scanner and would like to plug it in and see what codes are present.I am not losing power and car seems to be running just fine but I would like to fix it.
Thanks for your time

Here it is:

Post any codes back here for an explanation. Generic OnLine descriptions can often be misleading with Jaguars.

Thanks GGG! But! That area on my car when I looked earlier had a plastic panel which said air bag on it,I removed two screws and gave it a slight tug but was cautious about maybe setting air bag off.Perhaps I just need to pull cover off to access plug?
Thanks for your time.

There are no covers over the OBDII Port on left hand drive models anyway.

Hello and thank you Bud Tender for your time,I just went outside and double checked beside my bonnet pull and fuse cabin interior fuse box which is located on the passenger side of my right hand drive vehicle.I can not see this plug but having a closer look under my steering wheel air bag cover there seems to be a wiring loom and plug from what I can see similar to the one you have posted, although I have listed my car as registered year 2004.I believe it to be a 2005 year model judging by steering wheel difference.I will take and post some photos tomorrow when I get a chance hopefully.
Thanks again for the photos,I think now it is under steering wheel covered by the air bag plastic cover.Hopefully I just need to pop it off.
Cheers!

I have a RHD 2005MY and the socket is not covered by the airbag light! It's on the extreme outside edge, as arrowed by Graham, just in front of the airbag panel - use a torch and mirror if you can't find it any other way. No need to disassemble anything.

OBD2 regulations require the diagnostic port to be accessible without the use of tools. In other words - no dismantling necessary.

The socket is recessed to avoid damage. Run your hand right down the outside front edge of the Fascia (arrowed in red) and you should feel it:

Hello again and thank you Astromorg and GGG and everyone else. After everyone's info I found plug, can not believe I did not see it last night.Anyway!,plugged the maxiscan device in and found one stored, permanent code which is P1647 and three pending codes P1111,P1000 and P1642 but after scanning through maxiscan user manual I take from info that it is the permanent fault P1647 I should worry about or sort out first?
Thanks for your time guys, much appreciated.

Good to hear you found the socket and got the codes read.

P1000 : System (OBD) check not complete since last memory clear
P1111 : System (OBD) checks complete since last memory clear
P1642 : CAN circuit malfunction
P1647 : ECM HO2 Sensor control malfunction – bank 2 upstream (2/1)

You should always have either P1000 or P1111 but not both.

The possible causes for P1647 are:

1. HO2 Sensor 2/1 heater failure
2. HO2 Sensor 2/1 sensing circuit:
a) short circuit to ground
b) short circuit to high voltage
c) open circuit
d) ECM Failure

Thanks GGG!
I hooked up twice and worked my way though, maybe three times and turned ignition off and on because I lost temp gauge reading and temp lit up red as overheating but car just on for a minute or so.Also forgot to mention snow flake light was not active,so I am guessing that was on because of cold weather for last few days but hotter today with sun out.
OK! Thanks for that info...That info sounds a bit technical for me...Could the P1647 fault be the H02 sensor faulty or shorted some where then? And if so where would I find that sensor please?
PS.I think I need to download the manual...
Thanks for your time and patience .
Cheers!

Sorry! I did not explain myself well before...I thought maxiscan was not reading correctly so I tried it a few times maybe to reset device but the temp light always lit up and lost temp gauge reading so it be a characteristic of the maxiscan device to do that..
Cheers!

.............
It could be either a faulty sensor or the harness. The DTC can indicate no closer than that.

Hello again! Just thought I would drop a quick note to say thanks to everyone, GGG,Astromorg and Bud tender for your help.I have been up from 5am this morning and am wrecked,it is now 20.54 pm in Belfast,I will post the photos and explain tomorrow but to cut a long story very short we
have fixed my car...P1647 stored fault was upstream sensor on mono fold, underneath air-box, euro cars quoting £75 and JAGUAR Belfast £85 all in,was always going to get original part but was just curious.I will post more detail and add photos tomorrow after some sleep guys...Thanks again...ps Bit more awkward than I predicted ...LOL!
Over'n'out!

Hello there Chaps!
I do not have time to post photos and details today but will definitely do it soon.Nipped out in motor earlier and noticed I was getting 28 mpg on super which blew me away as I was only getting 22 mpg before I fitted sensor, that's driving easily of coarse....when I light her up that's a different story, maybe 22 ish mpg compared to 18.5 ish mpg before.
Also!,not sure if I was just imagining this, but it seemed so much more responsive.
Just thought I would let you guys know.
ps Will post details ASAP..
Cheers!

Adding photos is a bit complicated,i usually insert photo from my computer, not a third party photo storage site.maybe i am missing something here.
I was hoping to click add photo, then file from my pictures on computer which i had transferred from my phone/camera.i do not think this option is available or mistaken please?
