Default Double din stereo wows

Hi,

I have a 2004 2lt diesel saloon with dials for the aircon, tried to retrofit a double din stereo to find there is a aircon/heater blower duct in the way so the stereo sticks out of the dash by about 2 inches.
Is it possible to modify this duct to accomodate my stereo?

I know this doesn't help you but I was looking at investing in a nice touch screen tv upgrade to use for handsfree, is it only at the top that it doesn't fit as if so I presume a single din would fit with a single pocket above it

single din is fine but you will need parts to fit as Dennis has pointed out.

I fit a single din just fine. With the deck on top it would sit at an angle. But I moved the deck to the bottom and it fits perfectly.

I thought a single din would work, does it have any issues with how close the gearstick is in park for putting a cd in?

how big is the measurement of the depth I have ordered a stereo which is 160mm 6.2 inches, if you look on dennis blacks link his stereo was 7.25 inch which is longer bigger than my stereo, but his had a angled back at the top ridge which may have allowed easy installation, mine has a totally square back hence i went for a smaller unit, what are the measurements of your unit? mine is width 178mm x Height 100mm x depth 160mm, Im sure the unit you have is a chinese one off ebay, I too looked at these but im sure they were about 185mm depth.

this is my unit

PHILIPS CED1800BT Double DIN Car DVD Stereo Headunit Bluetooth + GPS Sat Nav Kit | eBay

The measurments on the description state its 145mm deep, but on Philips site it states 160mm, either way it should fit and sit flush with the fascia panel.

I believe yours may be this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Double-2-D...item2347da9c77

at one point the description states 160mm depth but further down it states 180mm, could you measure the depth of the unit to confirm?

Dennis can you help please, with the patch lead you received from the UK how did you wire it to your aftermarket stereo, I have just received mine so i can retain the use of the steering wheel controls, It states for my stereo I have to use the brown wire rather than the jack plug, which wire does my Brown wire go to on my stereo harness? The stereo is already equipped with SWC learn and this has two white wires line 1 and line 2 and a black ground wire, do I simply connect both white wires to the brown wire from the patch lead and the Ground to a Ground.

Thanks

Dennis do you have the schematics for the radio harness? I bought an iso harness adapter, but I'm not getting any sounds through my speaker. I don't think it will work unless I gut the thing like you did in your link you had above I really didn't want to do this much work, I just wanted to use the stock amp and stock speakers. Did you install an aftermarket amp? I see you left the optic cable disconnected there (the white cable with 2 optic receptors. Is it possible to use the built in amp if so do you know how to hook it up to an aftermarket radio?

Hi Dennis I ordered these exact 2 parts, well not sure if exact but the ISO adaptor you have but it looks very similar (see my 2 phtoos) and the antenna adapter look identical to yours. I couldn't seem to get any of the speakers to emit any sound using a AA battery and the below schematics for the speakers: The speakers should be making sounds for instance hooking up the AA battery to Front Right I should of heard the speaker popping... Maybe it needs power from the ignition first before these wires go live?

2004 Jaguar X-Type Car Radio Wiring Diagram
Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Yellow/Green and Brown/White
Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Yellow and Blue
Car Radio Ground Wire: Black
Car Radio Illumination Wire: Orange
Car Stereo Dimmer Wire: N/A
Car Stereo Antenna Trigger Wire: N/A
Car Stereo Amp Trigger Wire: N/A
Car Stereo Amplifier Location: N/A
Car Audio Front Speakers Size: N/A
Car Audio Front Speakers Location: N/A
Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): White
Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Yellow
Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Red
Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Yellow/Red
Car Audio Rear Speakers Size: N/A
Car Audio Rear Speakers Location: N/A
Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Blue
Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Yellow/Blue
Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Green
Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Yellow/Red

Notice one of my iso connectors the black one seems to have less pins on it... I wonder if that is the culprit.

This is the one I ordered, I think I may order another one from someone different and send it back does this look right?

Ok I'm starting to see how this goes together, and starting to get more frustrated with the system in this Jaguar. The red harness is where all the speaker wires are grouped, there are 4 channels LRear RRear, RFront, LFront +'s and -'s for each which is why there are 8 of these, and the black harness (in the above photo the 2 harnesses I'm grabbing, and the black one maps to features like the ignition, the ground dimming etc...

I think the speaker wires go to the amp, and the amp is off not running so that is the end of the line for those wires because trying to get the speakers to pop with a AA doesn't work from this red harness... I think until I figure out how to turn on the amp nothing will work. On the original alpine deck the fiber optics line must of controlled power to the amp somehow? What is the purpose of the fiber does it send the audio channels through those 2 wires NOT the below wires:

Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): White
Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Yellow
Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Red
Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Yellow/Red
Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Blue
Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Yellow/Blue
Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Green
Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Yellow/Red

wires?

If so why even have these freaking wires where do they go? Maybe they just lead to nowhere at least on this Jaguar, because it has the premium optic audio connector... Looking at the amp in the back it looks like there are only wires coming out going to the speakers, and then there is just the optic input... If I'm looking at this correctly I think it looks like I'd have to run wires from the deck, all the way to the rear probably get a new amp, patch them through that amp, and then devise some harness to attach them to the rear harness. Aie yie yie.. I'm ready to return the double din and just put the original system back in. How much would a dealer charge to set this system up lol probably why you guys ripped apart everything and built your own harnesses, and replaced all the speakers, and why no one is providing answers to using the built in amp
