Default Egr valve incomplete on scanner

I still have not found what this means, after 2 years with the Jaguar Jerk i've changed 2 EGR valves. Today the car was leaping like a Kangaroo, i disconnected the electrical connector hey presto the car was smooth as silk. Can anyone tell me if leaving this disconnected is going to do any harm to the engine of my 2L diesel?

Bill,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X-Type forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.
