Help with gearbox fault!
I have a 2002 X type 3.0
This morning i felt like the car was runnign a little rough, and when i got to the intersection to turn into my job, the car wouldnt go at first, and then the yellow light and gear box fault came on. I drove into the lot and parked. on a side note it has been raining hard for three days, and have had no transmission issues at all.
I did a search, but there were so many threads and so many sets of oppinions with various circumstances I didt even know where to start. i saw that water may cause it. im kinda having an anxiety attack at work, help please! lol

Sean, I would start with looking at the TCM (computer for the tranny) and pulling the plugs off of the computer module. If you see water in there or signs of corrosion of the pins, that is most likely your issue. You can use a stiff bristle brush and whatnot to clean up the connections and then I would use some di-electric grease and coat the inside of the lug with it. That will help keep the water out of the plug and not allow any moisture to cause things to go awry. After that, I would be looking at your throttlebody. When this starts having issues, you will get the gear box fault, leading to what you are seeing. I would start with looking at the wiring going to the drivers side of the throttle body. The wires there have been known to get stressed and start getting pulled out of the plug there, leading to what you are describing.
