Im locked out of my X-Type!!!

My drivers side door has always been a little tricky since Ive owned my 2002 x-type. It was one of the things that made me hesitate in purchasing it used in 04 with 55k. But pricedat 4k below wholesale , I felt I would take my chances with the used vehicle purchase rather than a new one. My keyless entry no longer works and after a recent unsuccessful attempt to unlock it manually during freezing weather, I cant get it to unlock at all. I can turn mykey to the right and hear it make the locking sound, but when I turn it to the left to unlock it, I get no sound and no results atall.Other than this Ive beenvery pleased with my X-type and at 110k, I have had no other probles whatsoever. I dont know the first place to turn for help with this issue. Thank you very much in advanceto anyone who offers assistance with my problem!!!

I was locked out of mine last year when I locked my keys in the boot.(After opening boot with fob with rest of car locked then closing bootlid with keys in boot[&o]).There are two ways to enter your car without braking the windows etc.If your car doesnt have a CD changer there is a grommet under the cd changer where you can get a metal rod through and short a wire causing the tailgate/doors to open.If you do have the CD changer in the boot you cant use this method as it gets in the way.The other method is to mask around the drivers door/wing so as not to damage the paint.Get the metal rod and poke about between the slight gap between the door and the wing (about 3/4 of the way down the gap where the wiring harness is that goes from the doors to the bottom of the A frame near the door hinge if I remember) which was the method used to unlock my doors.It might take a bit of trial and error to short the correct wire.On mine as the alarm system was on when I locked my keys in the boot it was stillwhen the doors were unlocked using this method.Keys were retrieved from the boot by removing the rear seats once inside the car (wish I'd had folding rear seats!).No problems with door locks before orafter this method was used and now proud owner ofa spare key fob
