The 0171 and 0174 would lead you to think of vacuum leak and too much air but if you are also getting the random misfire and individual cylinder misfire codes (p0300, 0301, etc and the p1316) I'm thinking fuel delivery may be the problem. Clogged fuel filter, fuel injector circuit faults, or ECM. You need tech help. Unless you put some REALLY bad gas in there.

Chrys, I just noticed that you had another post and that you were mucking about in the engine compartment BEFORE the 0300 codes showed up. Did you dislodge something and not get it hooked back up? Check any connections you could have loosened.

Hello guys and thanks for your quick response.
Yes… I did post before with other 0300 errors Mohrd, but the r not there anymore.

I got this car 2 weeks ago with check engine light on.
First scan I got the P1647 error code. I followed the recommendations from the forum I changed the "bank 2 sensor 1"
And the Problem is fixed!! Thanks!!
(By the way, Auto zone sells it for $88... I paid online $126)

Then 2 new error codes came up: P0171 and P0174

I followed the recommendations from the forum again and check for vacuum leaks. I found the O rings leaking and replace them.
(By the way the bottom one is hard to remove the housing ...Someone recommend cutting the old ring and try to replace the new with out remove the housing. Don't do it! It will brake! What can you do is.. Use a screwdriver when sensor almost out and gentle force up and it will come out)

So I changed the O rings, the air filter, and the spark plugs. (this is not an easy job)
And then still I got the error codes:
P0171 and P0174
Plus: P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304,P0305,P0306,P316

The spark plugs cap was preset at: 0.40 is this the correct Cap?
So these are the steps so far...I thought it will run better not worse.
And yes I use premium gas so is not the gas.
Car runs rough when is cold ..Sounds like running on 3-4 cylinders. But when worm runs very well
Thanks again for all your help!

Don't know why your o-ring broke sliding it over the lower IMT valve. It's a very easy operation to slip the new O-ring over one ear at a time. Prying the valve housing out of the manifold is much riskier and more costly if you slip and break the valve housing.

I had enough with this car.. Can’t changing parts just to find out if that is the problem. I like to sell it! I paid $ 4800 for it.. I paid another $300 for parts...
I'll take $ 4000 for it. If anyone wants it. Please let me know and I can send photos.
Car has 137000 miles on it.
Thanks!!!

$4800 is pretty cheap, even for a car with some problems, I would expect to be doing some work on it to get it up to running order. Calm down and consider if you actually want the car if it can be made roadworthy.
If you do...you are already halfway there with the work you have done. If you can do all that you've done so far, then the rest is as straight forward.
BUT it does take time and many posts on these forums to get there. That is the price to pay if you want a super cheap X. If you love the X type and have money...sell your current one and go pay around $6-7000 to get an already roadworthy X.
OR...be prepared for lots of typing.

I have been in your position, with a broken new car and an inspection due, so my sympathies to you.
Good luck

Judging from where you are located I recommend you contact Samuels Jaguar Motors Ltd in Alston. They are an independent Jaguar repair shop and are highly regarded.

I've been having similar problems, ONLY on cold mornings (rough idle, sputtering when at stop light or at a stop while braking). Same error codes. I was convinced it was either a vacuum leak or bad MAF sensor. Took it into the Jaguar dealership here in Baton Rouge... they told me they checked for vacuum leaks and found that the Intake Manifold Gasket had a vacuum leak. They are fixing that right now, and hopefully it will solve my cold morning issues. $450 fix. Other typical vacuum leaks are brake line booster hose, PCV hose, Orings

sounds like you've got a vacuum leak like me (check the brake line booster hose, Pcv hose, and Orings...also maybe the Intake Manifold Gasket).

Once your car warms up and/or you accelerate and get the RPMs up does your car drive fine?

My issues are only at idle...in park idle when first starting...Also when applying the brake at a stop light or stop sign while in drive my car tends to "sputter/bounce"

Hello there guys, I've replased so Far:
Big o-rings, pvc hose, upper intake gaskets, Mass Air sensor, two small o-rings in the upper intake, Plugs, air filter.
And still getting: Fault Codes: P0171 and P0174
I have photos from my scan reader that I would like to upload..but I don't know how to..I think if someone can read the test results it may help others with same problems.
Thanks again for your help!

Default P0171 and P0174

I wanted to say thanks guys. I have a 2005 Jaguar X-type. I had the same faults P0171 and P0174 and changed out the O-Ring, Air filter, Fuel filter, cleaned the MAF sensor and still no change. I then decided to change out the brake booster hose and sure enough, it had a nice size whole in the check valve (middle part). I replaced it and I'm waiting to see if the code clears. I was told it should clear on its on after I drive it around a couple of miles. Computer should reset itself. If it doesn't how do I clear the fault? I'm thinking the whole was pretty big and I don't think the MAF sensor needs to be replaced.
