Default Drivers Door Handle

Greetings Everyone. Just when I had my 2002 X Type 3.0 running perfectly my bad luck strikes again. Now it seems the drivers door outside handle only works from time to time. Sometimes it takes two pulls to open, and at other times nothing. The handles does not even feel connected to anything. Next time, after one or two pull its fine again. I've read the other posts and think I am doomed. I'm sure I need to have someone remove the inner door panel, as I know if I attempt it, I will mess up the power switches etc. Any idea what the problem is, so I can budget for this extra expense? Also, on another note, with all of Your help my Jag is running and driving like new. Just turned 99,700 miles. Thanks, Mike.

My parts car does that too. On it I find that if I push in on the door near the door handle at the same time as pulling the door handle and it’ll open every time

Default Easy Fix

I had exactly the same problem on my X Type. It was just a case of adjusting the linkage. My mate did it for me, he's a body guy. Just popped off the door panel and it only took a few seconds. Driver's door all good now, but recently the same thing has happened to the front passenger door!

Jaguar issues many TSBs for all sorts of problem. I uploaded many to this forum but they get lost or nobody reads them.

XT501-28 will probably have the info you need. Adjusting usually works but the rod does flex.

Not sure if you fixed your issue but I had a similar one some time back and had to destroy the door panel and then grind the lock inside the door to get it open. What a nightmare.
