Making sense of a mechanic's nonsense
Hi all, it's been a while since the last time I was here.
The car is still dented from the accident, and after some searching back and forth, it turns out that the cheapest alternative by far, is to drive down to the U.K., repair it there and pay the VAT on my way back. Insane, but that's the way the world works, it seems.
In the meantime, I simply can't live with the insane squeaking coming from the rear suspension. I've already told you that I got the wrong part repaired a few months back, and I'd rather not do it again. I made another shop take a look at it, and the answer they gave made no sense. This will be a more or less direct translation from norwegian:
Troubleshot: Squeaking noise from lower front transverse bar right rear.
This is literally the answer given to me in written form.
"Stag" in norwegian translates to bar. So I was thinking anti roll bar, but why not just say that in plain terms?

Skinny, from what they are saying, it sounds like it is the S-shaped bar on the rear suspension. If you pull off the wheel, the lower bar on the front side of the rear suspension is the bar that they are talking about.
I would think that you should be able to put the corner of the car up on a jackstand or two and then using a jack, raise and lower the suspension and see if you can spot the squeak yourself. Then you can see exactly what is making the noise and get the correct part.
