Default Power steering fluid?

Does it matter what kind of power steering fluid is used in the X type? Do I have to get it from the dealer? Or can I just use what they have at AutoZone?

I think it does matter..I went to the dealer for mine, but you can call them and see if there is something you can get from an auto parts store that will work..

I used just regular power steering fluid from Autozone and have no problems. Just make sure you put in the right coolant reddish in color not the green one!

I'm pretty sure, the run of the mill powersteering fluid at AZ is not compatible..I hope it is for your sake..it may not show problems right now..

and as far as the coolant ..you should use only Jaguar anti-freeze..it is different in the chemicals used, because of the pump design and alloys of the coolant system...So Dex-cool may work for a little while..But why chance it?

Thanks guys. Since Ill have to take my Jag to the dealer to see about my recent rear end accident anyway, Ill just pick some up then.I dont think I need to add coolant yet, but will definitely make note of this info for future reference.
