Default The reason why a Lights show went off in the jag...

Man I hate it when this happens...generally when one bad thing happens many things happen!

So as usual the things that go on with the jag happen with my wife...

First things first...
She starts car and the cruise control not available lights up....than the check engine light comes on. No performance lost or anything...

Well I go out there and the cruise control light was no longer on and the only remaining light was the engine light....
So I go to the local autozone because they were the only ones with a obd II right now that is opened and doesn't charge....

Here are the codes the first time...

P0171-think it had to do with 02 and lean or something...couldn't get the definition off the tester
P1111-System pass
P1796-CAN Controller Circuit (Bus Off)~~~~~also found this online...Kick down switch circuit malfunction?~~~~~Is this the limp mode code...???

Ok so those codes were cleared...than the guy couldn't get this code to clear once it was put on...cleared it like 4 times to no avail..
P1000-OBD Systems readiness test not complete...

Guessing this is the problem for that...
OBD Systems Readiness Test cycle wasn't completed yet because I hadn't driven it enough after resetting or something???

The P1000 is a systems readiness check. Certain conditions need to occur in order to verify that certain components like the EGR, evaporative systems, catalytic converts, and other systems are working.

Anyone else have this problem? I think I may have gotten some crappy gas and the climate did drop from 89 degrees sunday to about 50 right now!

i wud just concentrate on the lean running code.. hose that goes from the intake to the cam cover under the plaastic engine tray always cut's and the tunning valve orings on the passenger side of the intake always leak.. and the oil cap gasket on the plastic engine cover .. if not put back can cause a leak.. puching the oil cap up..

I'll rip that cover off soon as I get a chance and check things out...need to drive it before we leave and make sure either it was a fluke happening or what not...

What would the dealer charge for these parts if they go bad?

The large O-rings on the intake manifold are only about $3 each.. The large vacuum hose under the air cleaner is about $20. That hose has been redesigned five times trying to correct the same splitting problem. I put one on my car about a year ago, and the new one was very thick and corrugated. It looks like it should last quite a while.
I can't imagine the rubber seal around the oil fill cap costing much more than $5 or so.

had the guy at auto zone replace my hose for a cigarette and the oppurtunity of telling his buds he worked on a jag. this is a straight forward fix. you can do it yourself. I like to b.s. with people and this was one of those times. total cost with hose &clamps(jag didn't put any there?) $ 6.00. good luck. Bill

Hmmm...so I don't have to go to jag apparently? I assume also those prices aren't prices going through a jag dealer!!!

Correct. Just pieces you can pick up at your local auto parts. Now the $20 that bill was talking about is a dealer price.

tellin' ya bro, you can replace this part, you need a flathead screwdriver, a few clamps, do it at the auto stores lot. takes literally minutes, you don't want to keep running this car lean, oh yeah, you have the auto? mine acted funny until I replaced that hose, bang second gear on the j gate is the shizznit!!!! good luck, Bill

The code would have come back on if its running lean though wouldn't it? I'll have to do something about it I guess if you say so but I say it was just from not driving it in a while and bad gas perhaps or something....

Hey guys I looked under there and sure enough it was cracked like a earthquake up in there! Huge cracks would have thought the tube would have been designed like that! No joke either!
Was 5.49 from autozone hopefully that fixed the lean codes as the lights came on again this afternoon as I was leaving for wisconsin...Thanks guys!

Glad you got the hose fixed, but sounds like that autozone hose might just be a temp fix. Hopefully you got the clamps on there too.

Uhhh...temp fix or persistant problem? I'm going with the ladder...I think the reason it fails is because the hose gets pretty hot and the cover is there holding all the heat in would be my guess but i'm not sure...perhaps also because it is such a small tube...I actually have no idea why it is like that but you'd think an engineer paid lots of money would be able to fix it! I didn't use any clamps as the hose was a pain in the **** to put on in the first place! I broke the coupler that connected the hose...I will however keep checking it to make sure nothing happens to it though!
Drove 400+ miles without any problems I pray they don't come back!

Well I drove another 400+miles back home and still no problems...I need to get this in the faq section so others know exactly what is going on. I have the old hose and the jaguar sticker is still attached...will do very very soon, I'm sure it will come in handy a few times! BTW it does fix a little messed up idle...my car sometimes when I started it would act funny...well not anymore! My gas mileage didnt improve or anything...

Well guys here is the fix to the problem I had that said the fuel was running lean...

Click on the pic and download it from my album so you can zoom in and really see how horrible the tube is...

Not a great picture but you should get the idea of exactly how bad of shape that hose was in...

Hey Jim you'll have to fill me in on how to faq the topic as I'm sure this has happened to others...
