Well done! and ... agreed about the forums. On a different forum (MR2OC) I did and engine and transmission swap purely based on information given there ... it's amazing what you can accomplish with friendly knowledgeable help!

I realize this post went from "what's a good scanner" to diagnosing codes, but as I'm searching posts for a proper scanner recommendation I see a lot of talk about the ELM 327 with Bluetooth. I've also read some comments that the ELM327 isn't accurate or registers the wrong codes. My Jag is a 2006, and I have an iPhone, so I'm not too sure the ELM will work. I'd also like to be able to read any Tranny codes too. I'm having some issues with the temperamental house cat after the tune up and spark plug replacement and everyone is baffled. It isn't throwing codes, a engine light or a fault message so I'm driving around with a sense of caution and I'd like to put that apprehension to ease. Seems most suggestions are ELM, any others?

OK, I had a P0301 and replaced all the plugs and the coil on cylinder 1. It ran very well for a week. My wife was driving it and it died and the check engine light was flashing again. Now the code reader gives me a P1367, P0351, P0353 and P0355. WTF, is going on now? I am totally lost! I thought we had this in the bag. Can someone please give me some direction?

That does not sound good! All 3 coils could not be bad, one is the new one (unless something else fried them). The connector pins were fine about 200 miles ago when I changed the plugs and coil #1. The ignition circuit ground fault would affect all 6 cylinders probably but not necessarily. Damaged ECM. I seem to remember the dealer telling me that they could not program the car to accept new keys when I lost them recently and they found a wire off on some control module. Could it be the same module? Where is the ECM?
Thanks, Rick (we will get to the bottom of this I am sure, with your help.).

Tranny codes? Your choices are limited. Mongoose JLR is an option but, if you have other vehicle makes you wish to use it on its a no go. Auto enginuity is another option. But that can get spendy for the expansions. The one I use is Launch Creader VIII (aka Launch CRP129). Reads powertrain (including tranny), ABS, and airbag.
