Jaguar vs deer

Jaguars sure are hard on deer aren't they. Sorry to hear about it and glad you're OK!
Funny story several years ago, probably a dozen years, I was driving a Mazda 626 with the windows down and a deer came running straight at me from the passenger side. This was early spring after the antlers had shed, but it was obviously a buck deer, flat head, thick neck, velvet nub antlers just starting to grow. I wasn't going very fast at all and I slammed on the brakes. He was running and didn't see me until it was too late and he was slamming on his brakes best he could, back pedaling. I came to stop just as he came to a stop with his head sticking in the passenger window. We were literally nose to nose; he was looking at me gap-mouthed with eyes as big saucers, and I was doing the same right back at him. He backed out of the window, turned and burned! I sat there for a minute... gap-mouthed with eyes as big as saucers... Incredibly, no damage.

While we don't have a deer problem, Kangaroos are equally dangerous. This is a pic I took last weekend - I was trying to be all artistic of what an Australian version of the leaper on the bonnet would look like! And true to the Australian way, those are flys sunning themselves on the car...

Geez, sorry to hear that. Hope you get back on the road soon.
I haven't had any REAL close calls with deer, but I do remember about 15 years ago there was a Porsche 911 sitting in the yard where I take my car to get serviced. It had run into a deer on the passenger side. Deer must have bounced over the hood into the windshield as there was a round smashed depression about a foot in diameter in the windshield and the antler was still stuck in it. Hilarious to me, but not, I'm sure, to the owner as there was $20K of damage.
