Default Traction Control

Down behind the gear shifter is where the trac control button would be, however on my 04 Xtype (auto) I have the vented slot so am I to believe there is no trac control whatsoever on this car, or just no option to turn it off?

It seems obvious that there would be no trac - no button, but I find it very odd to know that a 2004 Jag would not have trac! This was standard on Lexus in 1995! On mercedes in 98!

What's the deal?

If you dont have the button, then you dont have the option of turning off the traction control. Its not standard on the X

What more do you want leather is standard on a 30k dollar car! Most x's have it...Are you in an area that winter hits? With the awd you don't necessarily need it but it came in handy a few times here in Michigan...although I don't like the abs system they were better on a 94 bonneville I used to have!

You said turning it OFF. that was my original question, is it there and I just can't turn it OFF? ....or is it not there at all. Does anyone have a vin decoder to see if the option is listed in my VIN?

I live on a mountain with very slick roads in the rain and many twisty turns. TRAC has saved my butt many times in my Mercedes.

Looks like you dont have traction control one........re the slick mountain roads mate......you're just gonna have to slow it down a little, although the AWD system is good.

Floor it in the wet to prove if you have traction. The option to switch it off is not on the awd I think?

When I bought mine I was sure it had traction but it did not have a button. Turned out to be a misbuild as the button had just been left off.

Tried to convince the dealer that the misbuild was that it should have been AWD.

Good luck with that! I tried doing some good donuts while more drifting than doing circles and than all of a sudden the awd in the front grabs a little of traction! My brother's got video of me coming within a couple of inches to a pole! I'll have to get it off the disc and post it on youtube! If its just rain though you should be good to go one! In the ice and thicker snow or ice and snow on top the tcs was awesome for me. Most of the jags I've seen had the tcs system... Didn't you get a good deal on it though?

Similar but different but you get the idea! Tomato tomoto...potato pototo...both systems are supposed to help you when you screw up! Although dsc's goal is actaully beneficial when your too far!
