Default X type noise from automatic pedal

Hi guys and dolls

We've recently acquired an X type 3.0 litre V6 as some of you know.

Its great and we love it but just got one little glitch When we press the foot brake on start up there is a clicking noise which either comes from pedal or maybe toward the centre/center console.

It Isn't always present but mainly from cold in the morning.

Is this the actuator or switch which does this.

I had a former X type V6 2.0 litre auto (UK only , two wheel drive) where I couldnt always engage reverse and the gearbox was fine but the switch was replaced?

Is this the same thing - any ideas would be very welcome.

Across pond friends aswell as UK friends too.

Here's the link from another jaguarforum.co.uk site Derek,

I stole it from Poundy who stole it from them!

One click is okay when the car has started and you're away to shift out of PARK, if there's more then you may have issues :

Fortunately not Stuart but its a nightmare for many people, the government must do something soon or many places will grind to a halt.

Thanks again.

I personally think it's disgusting that many companies have built on flood plains and poor unknowing people have bought the houses through their own hard earned cash and the elderly, sick and vulnerable are again the ones who suffer.

I just think we're better off together and fingers crossed, (sorry for the politics!!)

Had this problem too. It's not dangerous, but a small microswitch inside the J-gate. Easy to open up and replace. The following link explains all: How to repair annoying click from auto J-gate with pictures
