No kidding about it being cold. The wind was a killer, especially in the afternoon. If you lifted up the seat at the same time you moved the switch did the seat move? It may have gotten stuck. I had to do this with a Buick I had years ago.

 

i could hear the motors running.. but the seats not moving... i have no clue how to untangle this situation... i think its mechanical not electrical in nature... how do I check if theyre stuck?

 

omg.. you're absolutely brilliant!!! i went out (in the cold) and lifted the seats while i was pressing the buttons and IT WORKED! the only thing that didnt work is the downward button on the left (as you face the buttons) now I can adjust to a more suitable position (im 6ft tall and needing the headroom).. thank you

 

elardizabal, if you are down near Norfolk, VA, I would tell you to come on down to my place and we can get that seat torn apart and figure out what is going on. Can't make any promises as I agree it sounds like a gear issue more than a wiring issue. BUt, it could be nothing more than some dirt/debris that is inside the gears and simply needs a good cleaning. Let me know if you are interested. The way things are looking, this coming Saturday (1/31) will be another member coming over to my place to do some work. We can make this a mini Jag showoff/repair day. I will have my HID bulbs in the fog lights done by then too (finishing it up today).

The seat issue would probably be easiest done by simply unbolting the seat from the car, taking it inside and then playing with the seat at that point. The seat should come out with 4 bolts as I recall. The big issue is what type of fasteners that hold the seat in place.

 

Oh you have no idea what ive found under the seat, popsicle stick, power bar wrapper, dryclean receipt with the previous owners name and number (haha... i wanna call him and cuss him out for abusing the Jag), drinking straw, pen and some wierd plastic and some of it are stuck on the mechanical assembly which may have caused the gears to be thrown out of place (or worn [:@])

Anyhow, PM me with details, i would love to come down to norfolk sometime as long as the cold dont bite my A** im ok

Glad it worked out OK (mostly). Now just don't let anyone else drive your Jag. In this same directory there is a Christo's message on how to download the JTIS manual. It may take awhile so you can surf other Jag sites in the meantime.

thanks mike! and NO, no one will ever drive my jag at all! haha... I have posted another issue regarding misfires on cold start.. if you have any idea i would like to know what my mechanic has been missing (or not telling) all this time.
