Unhappy P1646 & p1647 obd ii eml

Jaguar x-type 2003 2.0 V6 manual. Could do with some help please. Bought myself an OBD II machine plugged her in & got the DTC codes P1646 & P1647, I have replaced a couple of o2 sensors then took the jag for a spin. The EML light came on flashing but now I'm getting a new symptom. Where mileage is displayed it said " cruise not available", my question is why would this message appear along with p1646 & p1647 ??
Can anyone tell me where to look now?

start with finding code description on internet and post here. Fix codes first, worry about cruise later.

Flashing is very serious - doing cat damage. Avoid driving it.

The flashing only just happened the once today, so the jag is back in the garage. AGAIN.

The codes you have are indeed the O2 sensors (lambda). If you replaced these sensors with cheaper sensors (usually internet buys) the continuing problem is with the "new" sensor(s). As Jagv8 cautioned, flashing means you are doing catalytic damage and it occurs rapidly, so don't drive it.

Here's another member's experience =
"after a week of teeth gnashing i have replaced the universal lambda sensor with a correct denso one from eurocarparts, £77 well spent, fault now cleared, do not buy a universal sensor, the heater band is too wide for jags, and will trigger the fault light, just to clarify p1646 is generated by the sensor in the manifold at the back of the engine, bulkhead side, and 1647 is from the upper sensor in the manifold at the front, radiator side of the engine, once again, DO NOT BUY A UNIVERSAL SENSOR!!!!!"

I'd suggest purchasing the sensors from forum sponsor SNG Barratt.

Universal sensors are most likely narrow band sensors, X has wide band upstream sensors, they have 4 wires and look exactly like narrow band sensors. I always believed 4-wire sensors are narrow band, not his time.

There are 2 sensors for each bank (4 total, 2 of each type), upstream and downstream.

I believe the codes you have relate to the "upstream" sensors on both banks. They are the gray plug ones.
